PSA Visits NSPRDC-BAI and Duck Farms in Quezon for Strengthened Data Collection and Statistical Reporting

PSA Central Office and PSA Quezon conducted a joint field visit to the National Swine and Poultry Research and Development Center of the Bureau of Animal Industry (NSPRDC-BAI) and two Itik Pinas raisers from 12 to 13 October 2026.

The field visit aimed to strengthen engagement with key stakeholders, identify areas for improvement in data collection and statistical reporting, and evaluate current parameters reflect the current industry conditions.

Participants include Dr. Rene Santiago, Center Chief and a Career Scientist of the Department of Agriculture, and selected beneficiaries of Itik Pinas breed, a mallard duck type capable of producing 250-260 eggs per year.

PSA, DA Conduct Focus Group Discussion on the Updating of Livestock and Poultry Concepts and Definitions

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Department of Agriculture (DA), through the Technical Working Group on Livestock and Poultry Statistics (TWG-LPS), conducted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the updating of concepts and definitions for livestock and poultry on 08 October 2026 at the National Meat Inspection Service Building in Quezon City.

The FGD aimed to solicit inputs from stakeholders by sharing expertise and perspectives on current industry practices. This is to ensure that concepts and definitions of livestock and poultry remain relevant to the current requirements of statistical reporting, planning, and policy formulation.

The activity was spearheaded by DA Assistant Secretary for Swine and Poultry Michael J. Garcia, DA Assistant Secretary for Ruminants Benjamin Albarece, and PSA Assistant National Statistician Rachel C. Lacsa. Participants included representatives from the private sector, academe, and various government agencies.

ICYMI | The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Central Office and PSA Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO) National Capital Region (NCR) conducted the โ€œKomuniAksyon & PSA Youth Fair: Stats, Services, and Opportunitiesโ€ on 22 October 2026 as part of the 37th National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration.

The fair featured an interactive PSA tour, forums on official statistics and community action, and booths offering civil registration, National ID, e-wallet services, and PSA careers for employment opportunities in the agency.

PSA RSSO NCR also distributed 100 free birth certificates to availing attendees as part of the 37th NSM celebration.

More than a hundred participants who are mostly students from various state universities and colleges (SUCs) and local government units joined the activity.
