NEARLY P24-M SUSPECTED SMUGGLED GOODS SEIZED IN THREE SEPARATE OPERATIONS

Under the leadership of Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), separate police operations in Cebu, Sarangani Province, and Zamboanga City resulted in the seizure of nearly P24 million worth of suspected smuggled goods, including ci******es and alleged sodium cyanide, and the arrest of nine individuals.

The combined estimated value of the confiscated items reached P23.99 million, reflecting the results of police actions carried out from October 7 to the early hours of October 8.

In Naga City, Cebu, police personnel recovered 33 boxes and 210 reams of assorted suspected smuggled ci******es estimated at P3.4 million while conducting a hot-pursuit operation related to a previous shooting incident. One individual was arrested in connection with the operation.

In Sarangani Province, authorities seized 32 sacks of alleged sodium cyanide weighing approximately 2,035 kilograms, with an estimated value of P1.92 million. The seized material was turned over to the local environment office for proper custody and disposition.

The biggest haul was recorded in Zamboanga City, where an anti-smuggling operation resulted in the arrest of eight individuals and the seizure of 124 master cases and 35 reams of suspected smuggled ci******es estimated at P18.67 million, along with a motorized boat.

Chief PNP PGen Nartatez said the separate operations show the PNP’s continuing efforts to stop suspected smuggled goods from reaching the market.

“We know that smuggling is not something we can address through one operation alone. Kaya tuloy-tuloy ang trabaho natin—makinig sa impormasyon, kumilos agad, at makipag-ugnayan sa mga concerned agencies. We will keep doing our part to prevent these illegal goods from reaching the market,” PGen Nartatez said.

The Chief PNP said these efforts are consistent with the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), which strengthens timely coordination, field responsiveness, and effective police action.

The operations also support the administration's continuing efforts under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen law enforcement and protect communities and legitimate businesses from activities that undermine public safety and lawful commerce.

₱20.4-M SUSPECTED SHABU SEIZED IN ZAMBOANGA CITY BUY-BUST; HVI ARRESTED

Under the leadership of Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief, Philippine National Police (PNP), police operatives arrested a high-value individual (HVI) and seized around three kilograms of suspected shabu with standard drug price of ₱20.4 million during a buy-bust operation in Zamboanga City on October 7, 2026.

The operation was conducted along Calle Real, Barangay Mercedes, by personnel of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 9, PDEA 9, PDEG-SOU9, 1st Special Operations Unit of the Maritime Group, 904th Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9, Zamboanga City Maritime Police Station, PNP-SAF, and Police Station 4 of the Zamboanga City Police Office.

Aside from the suspected shabu, police recovered the buy-bust money and other non-drug items. The seized substance will undergo quantitative and qualitative examination at the Regional Forensic Unit 9, while the arrested suspect is being held for appropriate legal proceedings.

Chief PNP PGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the operation reflects the PNP's continuing effort to disrupt the movement of illegal drugs through focused and intelligence-led police work.

“We have to stay focused on the people and activities behind the drug trade. This operation shows what can be achieved when our units work closely with our partner agencies and act on verified information,” PGen Nartatez said.

BROTHERS CAUGHT IN NUEVA ECIJA FI****MS BUY-BUST

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested two siblings in a buy-bust operation that disrupted the alleged illicit sale and possession of fi****ms in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija on October 6, 2026.

The operation was conducted by the CIDG Nueva Ecija Provincial Field Unit and Cabanatuan City Police Station in Barangay Valdefuente, resulting in the recovery of four fi****ms consisting of one M16 r***e, one caliber .45 pistol, one caliber .40 pistol, and one caliber .380 pistol, along with magazines and live am******on.

The younger sibling was arrested after allegedly transacting the sale of the M16 r***e, caliber .40 pistol, and caliber .380 pistol without the required documents and authority to possess or carry the fi****ms outside his residence. His older brother was separately apprehended after allegedly being found in possession of an unlicensed caliber .45 pistol.

The operation was conducted in connection with alleged violations of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Fi****ms and Am******on Regulation Act. The seized fi****ms, magazines, and am******on were secured for proper documentation and disposition, while appropriate charges are being prepared against the suspects.

“Illegal fi****ms have no place in the hands of individuals who intend to use them outside the bounds of the law. We will sustain focused police operations against the illegal acquisition, possession, and sale of fi****ms to prevent them from being used in criminal activities,” PGEN Nartatez said.

“Malaking bagay ang pagkakakumpiska sa mga baril na ito bago pa man magamit sa anumang krimen. Magsilbi itong babala sa mga nagbebenta at nag-iingat ng ilegal na armas na hindi sila makalulusot sa ating mga operasyon,” he added.

MAN CAUGHT IN ENTRAPMENT FOR ALLEGEDLY POSING AS POLICE OFFICER

Under the leadership of Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief, Philippine National Police (PNP), police operatives arrested a civilian who allegedly posed as a police officer and demanded money from a man in exchange for having his name removed from a supposed list of persons targeted for arrest.

The suspect, identified as a 27-year-old resident of Naga City, Camarines Sur, was arrested during an entrapment operation at Zone 1, Lerma, Naga City, at about 9:00 PM on October 7, 2026.

The operation was conducted by personnel of the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG), in coordination with police units in Camarines Sur and Naga City, following a complaint involving an alleged demand for ₱3,000.00

During the operation, authorities recovered a mobile phone, a replica fi***rm, several bottles of poppers, a police-type uniform jacket, empty shells, a belt bag, and documents believed to be related to the transaction.

The suspect allegedly represented himself as a police officer and used such claim in making the demand. He was subsequently brought to Police Station 5 of the Naga City Police Office for proper documentation and disposition.

Chief PNP PGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the incident highlights the importance of immediately reporting individuals who use the name or authority of the police to obtain money or favors.

“Kapag may nagpapakilalang pulis at humihingi ng pera kapalit ng pabor o ‘pag-aayos’ ng kaso, huwag basta maniwala. Report it. Legitimate police work does not operate that way. We will check the report, verify the circumstances, and take appropriate action based on the law,” PGen Nartatez said.

The Chief PNP emphasized that police authority must always be exercised properly and within the law, as the PNP continues to strengthen accountability and professionalism in its ranks. 9-COUNT WARRANT LEADS TO ARREST OF PRO NIR’S NO. 3 MOST WANTED

Under the leadership of PGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief, Philippine National Police (PNP), police authorities arrested the No. 3 Most Wanted Person of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) in Sibulan, Negros Oriental on October 7, 2026, following the implementation of a warrant of arrest covering nine criminal cases.

The suspect was arrested in Brgy. Poblacion, Sibulan, by personnel of the Sibulan Municipal Police Station, Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office, Negros Oriental Maritime Police Station, and Regional Intelligence Unit-Negros Island Region.

The warrant stemmed from four counts of Qualified R**e of a Minor, with no bail recommended, and five counts of Sexual Assault, with bail set at ₱1 million.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the arrest shows how coordination among police units helps ensure that warrants issued by the courts are properly acted upon.

“The warrant gave our personnel the legal authority to make the arrest, and our units did their part to locate the person named in it. That is how coordination should work—quietly, properly, and within the law,” PGen Nartatez said.

ALMOST TWO DECADES LATER, NATIONAL-LEVEL MOST WANTED PERSON ARRESTED IN DAVAO DE ORO

Under the leadership of Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief, Philippine National Police (PNP), a wanted person listed among the national-level most wanted individuals was arrested in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro on October 7, 2026, in connection with two counts of r**e.

The 54-year-old suspect, identified by the alias “Junior,” was arrested in Purok 1-A, Barangay Cabidianan, Nabunturan, through a joint intelligence-driven operation involving police units from Zamboanga City, Davao de Oro, and neighboring areas.

The arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court in Zamboanga City in December 2007 for two counts of r**e, with no bail recommended. The suspect was also listed as a national-level most wanted person under the Department of the Interior and Local Government, with a reported reward of ₱90,000.00.

Police personnel informed the arrested person of his constitutional rights during the service of the warrant. The operation was also documented through a PNP-issued body-worn camera and an alternative recording device in accordance with established procedures.

“This arrest shows that a warrant does not lose its importance just because years have passed. Our personnel have to keep working with the information available to them and act when the opportunity comes. Ang mahalaga, the arrest is carried out properly and the rights of the person are respected,” PGen Nartatez said.

The arrested person is temporarily under the custody of Nabunturan Municipal Police Station for documentation before his transfer to Zamboanga City for proper disposition.

ROUTINE TRAFFIC CHECK LEADS TO ARREST OF 14, SEIZURE OF ₱53.98-M SUSPECTED ILLICIT TO***CO HAUL IN CAVITE

A routine traffic enforcement activity in Cavite led to the discovery of a large shipment of suspected illicit to***co products, resulting in the arrest of 14 individuals and the seizure of items and vehicles with an estimated combined value of ₱53.98 million.

Under the leadership of Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief, Philippine National Police (PNP),personnel of the PNP Highway Patrol Group Special Operations Division, in coordination with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Cavite Provincial Field Unit, Ternate Municipal Police Station, and a private-sector partner, conducted the operation on October 7, 2026, along Governors Drive, Barangay Poblacion 1A, Ternate, Cavite.

The operation initially involved traffic enforcement and inspection of several vehicles. During the inspection, police personnel noticed boxes believed to contain to***co products, prompting immediate coordination with the CIDG for verification and further investigation.

The subsequent operation resulted in the recovery of 793 boxes of suspected illicit ci******es loaded in three closed vans, along with two other vehicles. The to***co products were initially estimated at ₱47.58 million, while the combined estimated value of the confiscated products and vehicles reached ₱53.98 million.

The final quantity and market value of the to***co products will be established through proper inventory and assessment by the Bureau of Customs.

The 14 arrested individuals, aged 22 to 50, are facing possible violations of Republic Act No. 9211, or the To***co Regulation Act of 2003; Republic Act No. 8424, or the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997; and Republic Act No. 10643, or the Graphic Health Warnings Law. They were informed of the nature of their arrest and apprised of their constitutional rights in a language known and understood by them.

Chief PNP Gen. Nartatez said the operation highlights how alertness and proper coordination can turn an ordinary police activity into an opportunity to address a larger concern.

“This is why we do not treat routine police work as just routine. Our personnel have to stay observant, know when something needs to be referred for further verification, and coordinate with the right units. Dito pumapasok ang proper judgment—firm action, but always within the law,” Gen. Nartatez said.
