Beyond making rice more affordable, the municipal local government unit of Pila in Laguna is placing the needs of vulnerable sectors at the center of the national government’s Bawat Bayan Makikinabang (BBM) rice program to cushion the blow of economic pressures in meeting their families’ daily needs.

The program, implemented through the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) by the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., seeks to bring government assistance closer to communities and members of vulnerable sectors including persons with disabilities (PWDs), public transport drivers, and solo parents, by providing access to free 10-kilo rice and easing the financial burden on families and individuals.

Ngayong taon sa temang, “Strengthening Civilian Oversight and Collective Action for Safer Communities” binibigyang-diin ng National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) ang kahalagahan ng sama-samang tulong at kooperasyon ng bawat lokal na pamahalaan, mga ahensya ng gobyerno, law enforcement agencies, ilang mga non-government organizations at iba pang sektor ng lipunan upang makamit ang isang payapa, maayos at ligtas na komunidad.
