As we navigate the recent weather, floodwaters and contaminated soil post a serious hidden risk. Leptospirosis is preventable, but only if we act together.
Here is what you need to know to protect yourself and your family. Please, read and share this information.
๐ก KEY SYMPTOMS TO WATCH FOR:
* Fever
* Headache
* Muscle pain (especially in the calves and back)
* Red eyes
* Nausea/Vomiting
* Jaundice (yellowing skin/eyes)
* Fatigue
๐ซ HOW TO PREVENT LEPTOSPIROSIS:
* Avoid wading or swimming in floodwaters or contaminated water.
* If you must, wear protective gloves and boots.
* Wash hands and body thoroughly with soap and clean water after any potential exposure.
* Control rats and dispose of garbage properly.
* Keep your home and surroundings clean and dry.
* Store food and drinking water in clean, covered containers.
