BOC BUSTS ₱35.4M AGRI SMUGGLING HAUL IN NUEVA ECIJA

| The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno convened a Collectors’ Conference on Tuesday, aimed at bolstering revenue collection and enhancing customs operations.

The conference, organized and hosted by the Port of Aparri under the leadership of District Collector Segundo Sigmunfreud Z. Barte, Jr., brought together port collectors and key BOC officials from across the country.

The event served as a platform to showcase the achievements of various ports and conduct a thorough review of their performance nationwide. Key officials engaged in insightful discussions on operational efficiency, revenue generation, and the implementation of reforms to strengthen customs processes.

Commissioner Nepomuceno emphasized the key priorities for all ports and groups. He urged officials to continuously improve collection performance through data-driven strategies and proactive enforcement. He also stressed the importance of strengthening anti-smuggling efforts by intensifying intelligence coordination and enforcing strict border control measures.

𝗕𝗢𝗖 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗳 𝘁𝗼 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗶𝗱’𝗹 𝗔𝗱𝗵𝗮

In celebration of Eid’l Adha, the Bureau of Customs Subport of Mindanao Container Terminal, under the leadership of Collector Nasrudin D. G**o, distributed beef to more than 100 families at the BOC Subport of MCT Grounds, PHIVIDEC Compound, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental on May 29, 2026.

Also present during the activity were Atty. Gemma Gloria, MICTSI Terminal Manager; Director Gary Linsagan, PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority and Nesly Ejusa, Operations Manager, Golden Sun Cargo Examination Services Corp.

The beneficiaries were from the chosen Muslim community from Sitio Sihayon, Brgy. Sta Cruz, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental who were each given two (2) kilos of beef and were treated for a simple lunch to mark the Eid celebration.

In his message, Collector Nasrudin G**o emphasized the significance of Eid’l Adha, noting that it extends beyond religious differences as it serves as a reminder of the values of sacrifice, humility, unity, and understanding. He also reflected on the story of Prophet Ibrahim, who was tested in his faith when he was commanded to sacrifice his first-born son as a demonstration of obedience to Allah.

"One of the beautiful essences of Eid'l Adha is the sharing and distribution of meat to family, neighbors, and friends. This act symbolizes generosity, equality, and concern for others. It reminds us that blessings become more meaningful when shared with others," said Coll. G**o.

This initiative is aligned with the social responsibility efforts of Bureau of Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, under the guidance of Port of Cagayan de Oro District Collector Atty. Manuel O. Zurbito Jr., highlighting the Bureau’s unwavering commitment to public service and meaningful community engagement.

During the discussion, the BOC highlighted its ongoing reforms and modernization initiatives focused on digital transformation under its Integrity, Accountability, and Modernization (IAM) Movement, reaffirming its commitment to transparent, efficient, and business-friendly customs operations.
