The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is exploring stronger skills development opportunities for Filipino workers in the shipbuilding industry by proposing a training center for eco-friendly shipbuilding specialists in Zambales. The initiative seeks to equip workers with globally competitive skills, strengthen international partnerships, and expand skills development opportunities in the country.

Secretary Francis N. Tolentino met with representatives from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI) and Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute (KOMERI), led by HHI Head Manager and Executive Shin Sang-woon, at the DOLE Central Office in Intramuros, Manila, to discuss the proposed project, its feasibility study, implementation direction, and areas where Philippine cooperation will be needed.

Cagayan de Oro City โ€“ The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Northern Mindanao, led by Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao, held its 9th Management Committee (ManCom) Meeting for Calendar Year 2026, marking the first participation of its new Assistant Regional Director Nicanor V. Bon in the Regional Management Teamโ€™s regular meeting.

The meeting brought together DOLE-X officials, Division chiefs, and Provincial Field Office heads to discuss key matters concerning the Departmentโ€™s programs, operations, and delivery of labor and employment services in Northern Mindanao. For ARD Bon, the meeting served as an opportunity to work closely with the Regional Management Team and gain a deeper understanding of the Regionโ€™s ongoing initiatives and priorities.

The discussions were also anchored on the direction of ๐ƒ๐Ž๐‹๐„ ๐’๐ž๐œ๐ซ๐ž๐ญ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ ๐…๐ซ๐š๐ง๐œ๐ข๐ฌ '๐“๐Ž๐‹' ๐“๐จ๐ฅ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐จ, particularly his call for stronger teamwork, responsive programs, efficient service delivery, and greater focus on the needs of Filipino workers, jobseekers, and employers.
