ATM || Barangay Assembly 1st Semester

The Lupong Tagapamayapa of Barangay Canitoan conducted the distribution of Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) flyers to our barangay constituents as part of our ongoing information and education campaign during the Barangay Assembly. This initiative aims to raise awareness and enhance the community’s understanding of the Katarungang Pambarangay system, including its purpose, processes, and importance in resolving disputes at the barangay level. Through the distribution of these flyers, the Lupong Tagapamayapa seeks to promote peaceful conflict resolution, strengthen community participation, and encourage residents to utilize the barangay justice system in addressing local concerns and disputes.

LOOK || Last November 15, 2025, at Barangay Pagatpat, the Liceo College of Law conducted a series of Community Legal Lectures for barangay workers. Among the participants were members of the Lupong Tagapamayapa of Brgy Canitoan, who play a vital role in maintaining peace and administering justice at the barangay level.

The lectures covered several important laws and procedures, including:

RA 9365 – Katarungang Pambarangay (Barangay Justice System), which outlines the mechanisms for amicably settling disputes within the community;

RA 9262 – Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, aimed at protecting victims and strengthening community response to cases of abuse;

RA 10175 – Cybercrime Prevention Act, addressing offenses committed through information and communication technologies; and

A.M. No. 08-8-7-SC – Rules of Procedure for Small Claims Cases, which streamline the process for resolving monetary disputes involving small amounts.

This initiative provided valuable insights and practical knowledge that will greatly assist the Lupong Tagapamayapa in performing their duties more effectively. We are truly grateful for this meaningful opportunity to broaden our understanding of these significant laws.

The members of the Lupong Tagapamayapa of Barangay Canitoan formally took their oath of office as newly appointed Volunteer Probation Assistants (VPAs) in a ceremony held in partnership with the Parole and Probation Office. This initiative aims to strengthen community-based rehabilitation and restorative justice efforts by involving local leaders in assisting probationers, parolees, and clients under community supervision.

As Volunteer Probation Assistants, the Lupong Tagapamayapa members will help monitor, guide, and support individuals undergoing rehabilitation within the community, ensuring their reintegration into society as law-abiding and productive citizens. The partnership highlights the shared commitment of both the barangay and the Parole and Probation Office to promote peace, order, and restorative justice at the grassroots level.
