Three days. One island. A celebration of science that Camiguin, and Northern Mindanao, will not forget.
The 2026 Regional Science and Technology Week sa ISLA has officially come to a close, but the impact it leaves behind will be felt long. ๐
What started as a gathering of scientists, innovators, educators, students, fisherfolk, farmers, entrepreneurs, and community champions in the beautiful island of Camiguin became something far greater: living proof that science, technology, and innovation can reach every island, every community, and every Filipino who needs it most.
Over three days, we witnessed history being made:
- A 75-year-old eruption was honored through a commemorative marker.
- A Smart Mobile Kitchen rolled out, ready to bring warm meals to families in times of emergencies.
- An innovation think tank was born in NIMBLE, ensuring that no great idea in Northern Mindanao ever goes without the right guidance.
- Communities were recognized, students competed, young minds were inspired, and partnerships were forged that will outlast this week.
More than 6,000 participants, almost 80,000 total online reach, more than 56,000 livestream viewers, more than 100 media coverages, and 63 technologies showcased with 38 expressions of interest for technology adoption. But beyond the numbers, what truly matters is this: 100% of participants agreed that RSTW sa ISLA was necessary, purposeful, and successful.
To everyone who made this possible: our partners, our local government units, our volunteers, our media partners, our exhibitors, our innovators, and the people of Camiguin who welcomed us with open arms, daghang salamat. ๐
