In commemoration of National CPR Day every July 17, the Nursing Service Sub-Unit Northern Mindanao (NSSU-NM) with the assistance from the Nursing Service Sub-Unit – Regional Training Center Misamis Oriental (NSSU-RTC MISOR) successfully conducted a Basic Life Support Orientation focusing on Hands-Only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) at City College of El Salvador (CCE), El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental.

The activity gathered approximately Three Hundred (300) students from various academic programs of CCE promoting emergency preparedness and strengthening lifesaving awareness among the youth. Through interactive lectures, live demonstrations, and hands-on practice sessions, participants learned the fundamentals of Hands-Only CPR, the early recognition of cardiac arrest, activation of the emergency response system, and the importance of providing immediate intervention while awaiting professional medical assistance.

This observance of National CPR Day underscores the importance of empowering students with practical lifesaving skills that they can apply in their homes, schools, workplaces, and communities by equipping future professionals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond during emergencies, building a safer, more resilient, and CPR-ready communities.

The Nursing Service Sub-Unit Northern Mindanao remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing public health education, promoting emergency preparedness, and fostering a culture of volunteerism and lifesaving service through continuous community-based training initiatives.

𝙉𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙎𝙪𝙗-𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙩 𝙉𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙣 𝙈𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙤 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙨 𝘽𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙘 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙡 𝙎𝙖𝙡𝙫𝙖𝙙𝙤𝙧 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨

The Nursing Service Sub-Unit Northern Mindanao (NSSU-NM) with the assistance from the Nursing Service Sub-Unit – Regional Training Center Misamis Oriental (NSSU-RTC MISOR) successfully conducted a series of Basic Life Support (BLS) Training sessions for students from City College of El Salvador - Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) Department. The training was held on June 4–5, 10–11, 23–24, and 29–30, 2026.

A total of One Hundred Twenty One (121) students successfully completed the training, equipping them with essential life-saving skills including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Rescue Breathing (RB), Foreign Body Airway Obstruction Management (FBAOM), and the proper use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

The initiative aimed to prepare students to respond effectively to life-threatening emergencies by enhancing their knowledge, skills, and confidence in providing immediate and appropriate first response while awaiting professional medical assistance.

Through this training, the NSSU-NM reaffirms its commitment to promoting emergency preparedness and strengthening community resilience by empowering individuals with vital life-saving competencies.

This 2026, as we celebrate the National Disaster Resilience Month with a themed "𝐍𝐚𝐠𝐡𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐚𝐭 𝐊𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐬 𝐓𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐨 𝐬𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐠 𝐧𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐬", the Nursing Service Sub-Unit - Northern Mindanao (NSSU-NM) proudly joins the nation in promoting disaster awareness, preparedness, and resilience among communities.

This celebration serves as a reminder of the importance of fostering a culture of safety and preparedness in the face of natural and human-induced hazards. It also highlights the shared responsibility of government agencies, local government units, private organizations, and the general public in strengthening disaster risk reduction and management efforts.

NSSU-NM encourage everyone to take part in this meaningful observance by staying informed, participating in preparedness activities, and working together to strengthen our collective resilience. June 25, 2025 – The Nursing Service Sub-Unit Northern Mindanao (NSSU-NM) together with the Medical Station – Northern Mindanao (MEDS-NM), Coast Guard Medical First Aid Station – Misamis Oriental (MEDFAS-MISOR), and the Nursing Service Sub-Unit – Regional Training Center Misamis Oriental (NSSU-RTC MISOR), provided comprehensive medical support during the convening of the Coast Guard Non-Officers' Course (CGNOC) Class 122-2026 at the Coast Guard Regional Training Center Misamis Oriental.

The activity marked the arrival of Three Hundred Eighty Two (382) male trainees, who officially commenced their rigorous military training. Throughout the convening, the medical teams conducted health monitoring, emergency medical response, and immediate medical assistance to ensure the trainees' safety and well-being as they embarked on one of the most demanding phases of their Coast Guard career.

Military training places significant physical and mental demands on trainees, making the presence of a dedicated medical team indispensable. Their role extends beyond responding to emergencies—they are instrumental in preventing illnesses and injuries, promoting health awareness, monitoring fitness for training, and ensuring that medical concerns are promptly addressed without compromising the continuity of the training program.

The coordinated efforts of the participating Medical and Nursing Units underscore the PCG's commitment to maintaining a safe training environment where operational readiness is complemented by quality healthcare services. By providing timely medical interventions and continuous health support, the medical personnel help sustain the trainees' resilience and readiness throughout their training journey.

Sa pagdiriwang ng Araw ng mga Ama ngayong 2026, ang Nursing Service Sub-Unit Northern Mindanao (NSSU-NM) ay nakikiisa sa buong sambayanan sa pagbibigay-pugay at taos-pusong pasasalamat sa lahat ng ama na nagsisilbing matatag na haligi ng kanilang pamilya at huwaran ng pagmamahal, sakripisyo, at dedikasyon.

Kabilang sa mga ito ang ating mga Coast Guardians na, sa kabila ng mga hamon at panganib ng kanilang tungkulin ay patuloy na naglilingkod nang may katapatan at propesyonalismo habang ginagampanan din ang mahalagang papel bilang ama sa kanilang mga tahanan. Ang kanilang walang sawang pagsisikap na pangalagaan ang kaligtasan ng ating karagatan at mamamayan ay sumasalamin sa parehong malasakit at responsibilidad na kanilang ipinapakita sa kanilang mga pamilya.

Sa bawat misyon, operasyon, at paglilingkod sa bayan, dala ng ating mga amang Coast Guardians ang inspirasyon at lakas na nagmumula sa kanilang mga mahal sa buhay. Sila ay mga huwaran ng katatagan, integridad, at pagmamahal—mga pagpapahalagang nagpapatibay hindi lamang sa kanilang pamilya kundi maging sa buong organisasyon.

Sa espesyal na araw na ito, kinikilala natin ang lahat ng ama, maging sila man ay nasa aktibong serbisyo, retirado, o mga tagapag-alagang nagsisilbing ama sa kanilang mga tahanan. Ang kanilang mga sakripisyo at dedikasyon ay mahalagang ambag sa paghubog ng matatag na pamilya at isang mas ligtas at maunlad na bansa.

June 16, 2026 — The Nursing Service Sub-Unit Northern Mindanao (NSSU-NM) and the Medical Station – Northern Mindanao (MEDS-NM) were recognized during the Regional Sandugo Awards 2026 organized by the Department of Health – Center for Health Development Northern Mindanao. The recognition ceremony was held at the 5th Floor Event Hall of SM CDO Downtown Premier, Cagayan de Oro City.

NSSU-NM and MEDS-NM received recognition in behalf of the Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao (CGDNM) as among the government institutions that have consistently and actively participated in blood donation activities, demonstrating their commitment to supporting the region’s healthcare system and promoting voluntary blood donation.

The award highlights the vital role that blood donors and partner institutions play in ensuring a safe and adequate blood supply for patients in need. Through regular participation in bloodletting activities, CGDNM have contributed to life-saving efforts that benefit individuals requiring blood transfusions due to medical emergencies, surgeries, accidents, and various health conditions.

This recognition serves as a testament to the dedication of NSSU-NM and MEDS-NM in fostering a culture of service, volunteerism, and social responsibility. It also reinforces their commitment to advancing public health by encouraging more personnel and the community to become regular blood donors and advocates of blood donation awareness.

The Nursing Service Sub-Unit Northern Mindanao (NSSU-NM) proudly congratulates SN1 Brian P Lirazan 015274 PCG for successfully completing the Coast Guard Radio Operations and Maintenance Specialization Course (CGROMSC) “KISLAP” Class 25-2026 conducted by the Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics, and Information System Command (CGWCEISC) last 06 June 2026 at Headquarters, Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao, Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental.

The CGROMSC is a specialized training program of the Philippine Coast Guard designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and competencies of Coast Guard personnel in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of radio communication systems. The course plays a vital role in strengthening communication capabilities and operational readiness, ensuring the effective performance of personnel in carrying out the organization’s mission.

The NSSU-NM commends SN1 Lirazan for this significant milestone and expresses its confidence that the knowledge and expertise he has gained will further contribute to the effectiveness and excellence of the Nursing Unit and the organization as a whole.

May this accomplishment inspire fellow Coast Guard personnel to pursue continuous learning, professional growth, and excellence in public service.
