The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Region X formally welcomed Engr. Alvin S. Requimin as its newly designated Officer-in-Charge (OIC), Regional Director during an installation ceremony held on August 27, 2026, at the MGB-X Conference Room, Puntod, Cagayan de Oro City.

The ceremony marked a transition in leadership for MGB Region X following the conclusion of the service of former Regional Director Engr. Rodante B. Felina.

The program brought together officials and personnel from the MGB Central Office, MGB Region X, DENR Region X, and various partners and guests. MGB Assistant Director Dr. Karlo L. Queaรฑo joined the ceremony via Zoom and delivered a message highlighting the challenges, responsibilities, and commitment required in leading a regional office.

A ceremonial passing of the flag between DENR Region X Regional Executive Director Ronald D. Gadot, Sr. and Engr. Requimin formally symbolized the transition of leadership and the responsibility entrusted to the newly designated OIC, Regional Director.

In his acceptance message, Engr. Requimin expressed his commitment to lead MGB Region X with a strong sense of responsibility and to work closely with the Bureauโ€™s personnel, partner agencies, stakeholders, and communities in carrying out its mandate.

As Engr. Requimin begins his leadership, MGB Region X looks forward to strengthening teamwork and collaboration while continuing to uphold the responsible management of the countryโ€™s mineral resources, promote sustainable mining practices, and deliver responsive and effective services to the people of Region X.

A new chapter begins. A shared commitment continues.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office X (MGB-X) successfully participated in the DENR Express: Permitting on Wheels held on July 28โ€“29, 2026, at Robinsons Place Iligan, bringing mining-related frontline services closer to the people of Iligan City.

Over the two-day activity, MGB-X served a total of 69 clients by processing various mining-related transactions and responding to public inquiries. The initiative made government services more accessible and convenient, allowing clients to avail of essential frontline services closer to their communities.

Through the DENR Express: Permitting on Wheels, MGB-X continues to uphold its commitment to delivering efficient, accessible, and client-centered public service.

As part of the culmination of the 2026 Philippine Environment Month celebration, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region X (MGB-X) proudly hosted the DENR Region X 2026 STAR (Stakeholders Appreciation and Recognition) Awards on June 29, 2026. The ceremony recognized the invaluable contributions of partner agencies, local government units, organizations, and private stakeholders whose unwavering support and collaboration have significantly strengthened the implementation of environmental and natural resources programs across the region.

Leading the awarding ceremony were DENR Region X OIC Regional Executive Director Ronald D. Gadot, Sr., OIC Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Arnulfo T. Osio, MGB Region X Regional Director Rodante B. Felina, and EMB Region X Chief of the Finance and Administrative Division Agakhan M. Cabugatan.

A total of 43 recipients were recognized through various awards and citations. Of these, 17 recipients were recognized by DENR Region X, 7 recipients by the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Region X, and 19 recipients by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region X (MGB-X).

For MGB-X, the Kapanalig ng MGB were conferred upon the Philippine National Police, Police Regional Office 10 (PNP-PRO 10), the National Bureau of Investigation- Northeastern Mindanao Regional Office (NBI-NEMRO), and the 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army in recognition of their steadfast partnership and invaluable support in the enforcement of mining and environmental laws.
