Northern Mindanao is experiencing elevated heat index conditions. The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC)-10 advises all LGUs, government agencies, private institutions, and the general public to prepare and take precautionary measures due to the prevailing and forecasted heat index in parts of the region.
DOST-PAGASAโs Laguindingan Station in Misamis Oriental recorded a heat index of 42ยฐC on August 12, 2026, and forecasts a heat index of 43ยฐC on August 13 and 14. With these conditions, everyone is urged to stay hydrated, remain in shaded or cool areas, and limit strenuous outdoor activities, especially during the hottest part of the day. These simple precautions can help prevent heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and other heat-related illnesses.
For visitors exploring Northern Mindanao, travel remains welcomeโbut do so responsibly. Plan outdoor activities during cooler hours, take regular breaks, drink plenty of water, and choose shaded or well-ventilated places whenever possible. There is much to experience across the region, and taking care of your health along the way will help make every adventure safer and more enjoyable.
In case of an emergency or if you need assistance, contact the local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) of your respective LGU. Stay informed, stay hydrated, and take the necessary precautions as we continue to enjoy the many destinations of Northern Mindanao.
