Theme: Different Context, Common Aspirations
ACTIVITIES:
QUIZ BEE
Team Composition
Each Purok shall be represented by three (3) participants.
The three participants shall constitute one team representing their Purok.
Contest Format
The Quiz Bee shall consist of three rounds:
A. Round 1 – Easy Round
1. Questions will cover general knowledge, Philippine history and culture, current affairs, science, mathematics, youth development, and community-related topics.
2. Each correct answer earns 1 point.
B. Round 2 – Average Round
1. Questions will be more challenging.
2. Each correct answer earns 2 points.
C. Round 3 – Difficult Round
1. Questions will require higher-level reasoning and knowledge.
2. Each correct answer earns 3 points.
Mechanics
1. The Quiz Master shall read each question twice.
2. Teams shall be given a designated amount of time to discuss and write their answers.
3. Answers must be written on the official answer sheet provided by the organizers.
4. Once the time is called, participants must immediately stop writing.
5. Answers must be legible and must follow the required format.
6. No changing of answers shall be allowed once the answer sheet has been submitted.
7. No mobile phones, internet-connected devices, books, notes, or other reference materials shall be allowed during the contest.
8. The team with the highest accumulated score at the end of all rounds shall be declared the winner.
Tie-Breaker
In case of a tie:
1. A sudden-death question shall be given.
2. The tied teams will answer the question simultaneously.
3. The team that gives the correct answer while the other team gives an incorrect answer shall win.
4. Additional questions shall be given until the tie is broken.
SPELLING BEE
A. Participant
Each Purok shall send one (1) participant.
B. Mechanics
1. The Spelling Bee shall be conducted in elimination format.
2. The pronouncer will announce the word clearly.
3. The pronouncer shall announce the word twice.
4. The participant must pronounce the word before and/or after spelling, as directed by the pronouncer.
5. Once the participant begins spelling, no changes or corrections shall be allowed.
6. A participant who spells the word incorrectly shall be eliminated from the current round.
7. Participants who correctly spell words shall proceed to the succeeding rounds.
8. The difficulty of the words shall increase as the competition progresses.
9. The last remaining participant who correctly spells the required word shall be declared the Champion.
Tie/Final Round
1. If necessary, additional words shall be given to tied contestants until only one participant remains.
Prohibited Actions
Participants shall not:
1. Use mobile phones or electronic devices;
2. Receive assistance from the audience;
3. Communicate answers with other contestants;
4. Use notes or reference materials.
PENOY HENYO
Team Composition
1. Each Purok shall send two (2) participants:
•1 Guesser
•1 Clue Giver
2. The two participants may switch roles in succeeding rounds if allowed by the Contest Committee.
Mechanics
1. The word/phrase to be guessed shall be placed on the forehead/headband of the Guesser, facing the audience and the Clue Giver.
2. The Guesser must not see the word.
3. The Clue Giver shall provide clues to help the Guesser identify the word.
4. The Clue Giver may answer only: YES or NO or MAYBE
5. The Clue Giver may NOT:
•Say the actual word;
•Give a direct translation of the word;
•Spell the word;
•Say the first letter or number of letters;
•Use gestures or actions that directly reveal the answer;
•Use another word that is essentially the same as the answer.
6. The Guesser may ask unlimited questions within the allotted time.
7. Each team shall be given 2 minutes per round to guess as many words as possible.
8. Each correctly guessed word shall earn one (1) point.
9. If the team wishes to skip a word, it may say “PASS.”
10. A passed word may not be returned to unless the organizers specifically allow it.
11. The team with the highest total number of correct answers shall win.
Tie-Breaker
If two or more teams have the same score, a one-minute tie-breaker round shall be conducted. The team that correctly guesses the most words within the tie-breaker period shall win.
