DSWD Field Office Caraga conducted a coordination meeting with the City Government of Butuan following the declaration of a State of Calamity due to the ongoing water shortage affecting the city.

During the meeting, DSWD informed the City Government of the ongoing mobilization of a water tanker and water filtration system from DSWD Field Office XII, which will be utilized to support the water rationing efforts for affected residents of Butuan City.

The coordination highlights the continued collaboration between DSWD and the city government in ensuring timely and appropriate assistance to communities affected by the situation.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga is assessing the request of the LGU of San Jose, Dinagat Islands for portable water assistance amid water shortages caused by extreme heat.

Assistant Regional Director for Operations Jean Paul S. Parajes met with the Local Government Unit (LGU) officials earlier today to assess the municipality’s needs and discuss possible immediate interventions.

The assessment follows the Province of Dinagat Islands’ declaration of a State of Calamity due to extreme heat, which has affected water access in communities across the province.
