Butuan City, June 3, 2026 โ More than 600 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), their families, and partner stakeholders gathered at the Bayanihan Para sa Balikbayang Manggagawa โ National Reintegration Network (BBM-NRN) Regional Fair 2026, organized by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Caraga in celebration of National Migrant Workersโ Day. The event highlighted the governmentโs continuing commitment to strengthen reintegration programs and bring essential services and opportunities closer to OFWs and their families.
The event was graced by DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac and Assistant Secretary Francis Ron C. De Guzman, who reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting OFWs at every stage of their migration journey, from overseas employment to successful reintegration in their home communities. Their presence underscored the national governmentโs sustained efforts to strengthen reintegration programs and expand opportunities for migrant workers and their families.
The regional fair featured a wide range of reintegration initiatives aimed at promoting employment, entrepreneurship, and financial empowerment among OFWs and their families. Key activities included the Overseas Job Fair, Serbisyo Fair, Post-Repatriation Orientation Seminar (PROS), and the Buy Lokal! by OFWs Exhibit, which showcased products and enterprises developed by OFWs and their families.
A major highlight of the event was the ceremonial signing of Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) for OFW Help Desks with seven local government partners, attended by respective mayors and LGU representatives. The initiative strengthened collaboration between national and local government agencies to ensure the effective delivery of reintegration services at the community level and improve access to support mechanisms for OFWs and their families. As part of the partnership, DOLE Caraga, TESDA Caraga, and OWWA Caraga committed to providing technical support, skills training, employment facilitation, and program coordination for the implementation and sustainability of OFW Help Desk services.
Following the MOA signing, a total of 182 OFWs received assistance under the Enhanced Livelihood Program for OFW Reintegration (ELPOR) and the Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo para sa mga OFW na Nangangailangan (AKSYON) Fund, providing vital support for their reintegration and livelihood endeavors. Partner agencies, including the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), also provided information and services on financial literacy, housing, innovation, digital technology, social protection, and other reintegration-related programs.
The event also recognized initiatives supporting children of OFWs and highlighted inspiring testimonies from migrant workers who shared stories of resilience, sacrifice, and success. These narratives underscored the transformative impact of government reintegration programs in empowering OFWs and their families toward long-term stability, self-reliance, and economic security.
Through the BBM-NRN Regional Fair 2026, DMW Caraga continues to strengthen partnerships, expand opportunities, and enhance support mechanisms that empower OFWs and their families, fostering sustainable reintegration and inclusive growth while recognizing the invaluable contributions of migrant workers to national development.
