The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Butuan City and the City Government of Butuan through the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) conducted the Capacity Development for Barangays on Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) Law: Updates on Relevant Laws and Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA) Document Preparation to strengthen the implementation of KP in 86 barangays of Butuan City.

Resource Persons shared their expertise on the following topics

ATTY. INGRID TRIXIA E. RULLON-NASTOR, Regional Public Attorney of the Public Attorney’s Office discussed the Republic Act No. 9344, as amended by Republic Act No. 10630: “An Act Establishing a Comprehensive Juvenile Justice and Welfare System, Creating the Juvenile justice and Welfare Council under the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Appropriating Funds Therefor, and for Other Purposes” with emphasis on the Diversion Proceeding in Katarungang Pambarangay (KP).

ATTY. MARY CHRISTINE ANTHONETTE M. SALISE-PUNZALAN, Assistant City Prosecutor of the City Prosecutor’s Office discussed the Subject Matter Jurisdiction in Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) in criminal and civil cases with applicable special laws.

ATTY. FLORIAN FAITH JR. P. BAYAWA, ENP, CESE, LGOO VI of DILG Butuan City discussed the Revised Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) Law, Settlement Procedure and KP Forms including the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards ([LTIA) Document Preparation and Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) Reporting Requirements.

Punong Barangays as Lupon Chairperson, Barangay Secretaries / Lupon Secretaries and Lupon Members attended the activity in order to possess adequate knowledge and skills in dispute resolution, as well as, ensure their compliance in proper document preparation in the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards (LTIA).
