June 1, 2026 | Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Secretary Conrado M. Estrella III graced the Agrarian Reform Stakeholders Empowerment and Partnership Summit held at the Buenavista Municipal Gymnasium.
A total of 12 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) and 2,360 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) from across the Caraga Region participated in the summit. The attendees came from the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands.
Municipal Mayor Hon. Joselito T. Roble warmly welcomed Secretary Estrella to the Municipality of Buenavista. He expressed his gratitude by saying, โHindi lahat ay nabibisitahan ni Sec. Estrella. Kaya, thank you, Sec., for your presence today.โ
In his message, Mayor Roble highlighted that DAR has demonstrated its commitment to farmers by not only distributing land but also improving the lives of farmers and their families.
The LGU of Buenavista strongly supports the farming sector, recognizing the vital role farmers play in the community. Farmers work tirelessly to provide food for the people, and they deserve support through farm-to-market roads, market spaces for their products, and livelihood assistance through farm machinery, equipment, and transportation.
On the other hand, Governor Ma. Angelica Rosedell M. Amante emphasized that the goal is to create more success stories among farmers. She noted that only a few students are now pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture because they have witnessed the hardships faced by farmers. She stressed that it is time to change the perception and system of agriculture by providing farmers with adequate financial support, equipment, and opportunities.
Governor Amante assured the farmers that the Provincial Government, together with the LGUs, will continue to support initiatives that will improve their quality of life.
Secretary Estrella also shared good news for the farming sector. He announced that DAR has expanded its assistance programs to include financial support, farm-to-market roads, farm equipment, water systems, and health services. He added that the National Government, under the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., is implementing programs aimed at uplifting the lives of farmers. These include plans to establish hospitals for farmers with free medicines and zero-billing services, as well as providing free tuition for the children of farmers.
Secretary Estrella encouraged farmers to instill the value of agriculture in their children, emphasizing that farmers are the backbone of the nation. He further assured the beneficiaries that DAR will continue to extend its support to farmers in every possible way.
The activity also featured a multi-party ceremonial turnover of Farm Machinery and Equipment (FME), livestock, farm-to-market road projects, checks under the ALERT-ARBO Program, the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the VLFED Project, the launch of the ROMATA ARC, and the signing of marketing agreements.
The event was attended by DAR Undersecretary for Support Services Office (SSO), Mr. Josef Angelo S. Martires, CESO III; Undersecretary for Field Operations Office (FOO), Atty. Kazel C. Celeste; governors from different provinces; municipal mayors from across Caraga; partner national government agencies such as DTI, CDA, and CSC; ARBO representatives; and members of the security sector.
