Nakapalit ba ka ug depektibo nga produkto? ๐Ÿค”
Pwede ba ka mag-file ug reklamo?

Ila-ilaha ang imong mga katungod isip konsyumer ug ayaw pag-settle for less. Importante ang imong tingog. Mahimong maalamon aron magpabiling protektado.

For many Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), coming home marks the beginning of a new chapter. For Ms. Alma Villanueva of Poblacion, Carmen, Agusan del Norte, it became an opportunity to transform years of hard work, sacrifice, and life experiences into a meaningful and sustainable livelihood.

A former OFW and a devoted widow, Alma faced many challenges throughout her journey. Yet, instead of allowing hardships to define her future, she chose to pursue her passion for cooking and entrepreneurship. Armed with determination, resilience, and a desire to provide for her family, she ventured into the food business, turning her love for preparing delicious meals into a source of income and inspiration.

What started as a simple passion gradually evolved into two growing enterprisesโ€”Gavin Eatery and Alma Food Products. Through these businesses, Alma has become known for offering quality catering services and a variety of processed food products that have earned the trust and support of customers in her community. Her commitment to quality and consistency has helped her establish a reputation as a reliable local entrepreneur.

Drawing from years of experience in food preparation, Alma proudly produces a range of traditional Filipino delicacies, including kakanin, binangkal, tableya, cakes, and other locally inspired products. Each item is carefully prepared with dedication and attention to quality, reflecting her passion for preserving local flavors while meeting the tastes of modern consumers. Through her products, she not only provides food but also celebrates the rich culinary heritage of the community.

Recognizing the importance of continuous learning and business development, Alma actively sought assistance from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) โ€“ Agusan del Norte through its MSME Development Services. Through the Negosyo Center, she received business advisory services and guidance on improving her enterprise operations. She also participated in the Kapatid Mentor ME (KMME) Program, where she gained valuable knowledge on entrepreneurship, marketing, financial management, business planning, and strategies for sustainable growth.

In addition, Alma benefited from the One Town, One Product (OTOP) Next Gen Assessment, Consultation, and Triage (ACT) Session, which provided expert recommendations on product improvement, packaging enhancement, labeling, and market positioning. These interventions helped her strengthen the competitiveness of her products and better prepare them for wider markets.

To further support the expansion and improvement of her business, Alma also availed of financing assistance through the Small Business Corporation (SB Corp.) Loan Programs. The additional capital enabled her to invest in business improvements, procure necessary equipment and raw materials, enhance production capacity, and better respond to customer demand. This financial support became a crucial tool in helping her sustain and grow her enterprise while maintaining product quality and service excellence.

As a woman entrepreneur, Alma's story is one of perseverance and courage. The challenges of being a widow and rebuilding her life after working abroad did not stop her from chasing her dreams. Instead, they became the driving force behind her determination to succeed. Through hard work, continuous learning, government support, and unwavering faith, she transformed obstacles into opportunities and built a business that supports her family while contributing to the local economy.

Today, Gavin Eatery and Alma Food Products continue to grow, serving as a testament to Alma's resilience and entrepreneurial spirit. Her journey reminds aspiring entrepreneurs that success is not measured by the absence of challenges, but by the determination to keep moving forward despite them.

โ€œSuccess is not about where you started, but how willing you are to learn, adapt, and persevere through every challenge along the way.โ€

Through her inspiring journey, Alma Villanueva proves that with passion, dedication, and the right support system, even life's toughest circumstances can become the foundation for a thriving and meaningful enterprise.
