On September 3, 2026, active youth leaders from the Magallanes, Cabadbaran, and RTR chapters joined forces at the Barangay Gym in Sto. Niรฑo, Magallanes, Agusan del Norte for the "Basic Emergency Response Capability Development Activity."

Guided by expert instructors from the ADN DRRM Training Team, participants immersed themselves in practical, life-saving workshops focusing on essential first aid, bandaging and splinting, safe patient transfers, hands-only CPR, and the use of improvised rescue equipment.

Beyond the hands-on drills, the event provided a space for meaningful chapter discussions and open forums, empowering young advocates to take a proactive role in building safer, disaster-resilient communities.

This initiative highlights the vital impact of youth involvement in disaster preparednessโ€”proving that a safer tomorrow starts with trained and ready young leaders today.

On ๐’๐ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ, ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”, young ADNERT representatives from Jabonga, Kitcharao, Tubay, and Santiago gathered at the ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐œ๐ข๐ฉ๐š๐ฅ ๐†๐ฒ๐ฆ๐ง๐š๐ฌ๐ข๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐“๐ฎ๐›๐š๐ฒ, ๐€๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐š๐ง ๐๐ž๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ž for the Young ADNERT JAKITS Cluster Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Activity Towards Sustainable and Resilient Schools.

The activity commenced with the Opening Remarks delivered by Young ADNERT Tubay Coordinator ๐Œ๐ซ. ๐Œ๐ž๐ฅ๐Ÿ๐ž๐ซ ๐ƒ. ๐“๐จ๐ซ๐ซ๐ž๐ฏ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐š๐ฌ and DepED-ADN DRRM Coordinator ๐Œ๐ซ. ๐‰๐š๐ฆ๐ž๐ฅ ๐ˆ. ๐’๐š๐œ๐š๐ซ followed by an informative session from PAGASA Butuan Station Chief Meteorological Officer ๐„๐ง๐ ๐ซ. ๐•๐ž๐ซ ๐‹๐š๐ง๐œ๐ž๐ซ ๐ƒ. ๐†๐š๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐ข๐๐š on โ€œBe Weather Ready: Climate Updates, Impacts, and Smart Actions.โ€ The discussion emphasized the importance of understanding weather and climate risks, staying informed, and taking smart and timely actions to ensure safety.

The participants also gained valuable insights from Young ADNERT Federation Coordinator ๐Œ๐ฌ. ๐€๐ง๐ ๐ข๐ž ๐‚. ๐‹๐จ๐ง๐ ๐จ๐ฌ, who discussed โ€œShake Smart: Earthquake Preparedness and Secondary Hazard Awareness.โ€ Her session focused on strengthening earthquake preparedness and increasing awareness of possible secondary hazards, empowering young people to respond appropriately before, during, and after an earthquake.

The learning sessions were complemented by the group activity โ€œSchool Safety in Action: Building Watch and Emergency Evacuation Planning Workshop,โ€ at Tubay National High-school, where participants worked collaboratively to identify risks, strengthen preparedness measures, and develop practical evacuation plans for safer schools.

Through these discussions and hands-on activities, the Young ADNERT JAKITS Cluster continues to equip the youth with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become active partners in climate action, disaster preparedness, and building sustainable and resilient schools and communities.
