As part of the celebration of the CAAP Anniversary through the CAAP Butuan Airport Sportsfest 2026, one of the most anticipated and highlighted events was the Mr. and Ms. CAAP Pasidungog 2026.

Beyond showcasing talent, confidence, and personality, the competition also highlighted meaningful advocacies that promote positive change within our workplace and community. Among the advocacies presented, the winning advocacy entitled "Inclusivity" emphasized the importance of respect, acceptance, and equal opportunities for members of the LGBTQ+ community in the CAAP workplace.

This advocacy reminds us that a diverse workforce creates a stronger, more innovative, and compassionate organization where everyone is valued regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, background, or beliefs.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines is opening applications for the Comprehensive Air Traffic Service Course - Batch 22 and Batch 23 (CATS 22 and CATS 23) to recruit competent young men and women who will join the country’s elite line of Air Traffic Management Officers (ATMOs).

𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬:
1. Natural born citizen of the Philippines
2. Single
3. Not more than twenty-six (26) years old on August 29, 2026
4. Physically, mentally and psychologically fit and of good moral character
5. Has good command of the English language
6. Has not been convicted of any criminal or administrative case
7. Has not been dishonorably separated from the government or private service

𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬:
1. Holder of bachelor’s degree in any course
2. Computer literate
3. Not color blind

Interested applicants may submit either personally or via mail/courier, their completed application form together with the documents listed below to designated testing centers 𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝟓:𝟎𝟎 𝐏𝐌 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟑𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:
1. Diploma (photocopy) or Certification from School Registrar that they
completed the course (photocopy)
2. Transcript of Records (photocopy)
3. PSA Birth Certificate (photocopy)
4. NBI Clearance/Police Clearance (original copy)
5. 2 pcs 2x2 photo (colored picture with white background and name tag)

Applications with incomplete requirements will not be accepted. Upon submitting their application, applicants must scan the QR code provided by HRMD to be officially listed as candidates for the examination.

Applicants must pass the nationwide examination on 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 (𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲), then a scheduled interview and a medical exam on a later date.

Training is FREE. Allowances, accommodation, and other miscellaneous expenses during the training period shall not be covered by CAAP.

Successful applicants who will complete the training will be assigned to an Air Traffic Service (ATS) facility nationwide.

✈️ BASIC AVIATION SECURITY COURSE (BASC) PHASE 1 AT CAAP BUTUAN AIRPOPRT

The Basic Aviation Security Course (Phase 1) is currently being conducted at CAAP Butuan Airport to train and equip AVSEC personnel with the essential knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to effectively enforce, monitor, and implement aviation security preventive measures. These include access control procedures and other security protocols in accordance with the National Civil Aviation Security Program (NCASP) and other locally approved security programs.

The training commenced on 06 April 2026 and is set to conclude on 17 April 2026.

👨‍✈️ Training Team:
Led by Danilo R. Manalo, CSO C, CSIS, with Marco Carlos M. Velasco and Stephen A. Alutaya as instructors.
📌 Facilitated by Ilonah Jane S. Diangco
📌 Supervised by Ma. Lorena Sanosa, Chief Admin, CSIS

👥 Participants:
A total of 29 trainees, composed of:
• 7 CSIS personnel
• 22 Renajamel Security Agency Corporation (RSAC) personnel

📚 Course Details:
The course consists of 26 modules delivered through a combination of lectures, visual presentations, group discussions, reading assignments, progress tests, group activities, practical exercises, and a final written examination.

🎯 Expected Competencies:
Upon completion, participants are expected to demonstrate competency in:
• Inspection, screening, and searching of persons, baggage, cargo, catering supplies, vehicles, facilities, and aircraft in accordance with NCASP
• Implementation of es**rt procedures for personnel and consignments
• Application of aircraft protection measures
• Ex*****on of challenge procedures to prevent unauthorized access
• Response to airport emergency situations
• Promotion of effective community relations in support of aviation security

🛫 Following the course, participants will undergo a 30-day On-the-Job Training (OJT) and will be evaluated for certification by the Office for Transportation Security (OTS).

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reminds all travelers to strictly follow dangerous goods regulations to ensure safe and secure air travel during Semana Santa, following the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez.

Dangerous goods are items or substances that may pose a hazard to the safety of an aircraft, its passengers, and crew when transported by air. These are regulated globally by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and some items may be allowed with restrictions depending on quantity and airline approval.

Among the most common dangerous goods are:
• Power banks and lithium batteries
• Flammable liquids such as gasoline and paint thinner
• Compressed gases, including aerosols and butane
• Corrosive substances such as acid and bleach
• Explosives, including fireworks

CAAP emphasized that compliance with dangerous goods regulations is essential because the improper handling or transport of these items can result in serious incidents, including fire or explosion onboard an aircraft, emergency landings, flight delays or cancellations.

“Ang kaligtasan ng ating mga pasahero at flight personnel ang pangunahing prayoridad ng CAAP. Mahalaga ang pagsunod sa mga patakaran sa dangerous goods upang maiwasan ang anumang insidente na maaaring magdulot ng panganib sa biyahe,” said CAAP Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul Del Rosario.

Passengers found carrying prohibited or undeclared dangerous goods during check-in or before boarding may face several consequences. These may include:

• Confiscation of prohibited items
• Offloading of the passenger
• Delays in flight departure
• Possible cancellation of travel
• Fines or legal action in cases of serious or intentional violations

CAAP warned that the intentional concealment or failure to declare prohibited items may lead to legal consequences under existing aviation and security regulations.

Passengers are also urged to observe the following reminders:

• Check airline guidelines and baggage policies before traveling
• Place power banks and spare lithium batteries in carry-on baggage only
• Never bring undeclared items
• Cooperate with airport screening and inspection procedures

CAAP likewise encouraged passengers to arrive at the airport early, allow sufficient time for security screening and seek confirmation or clarification from their airline in case of any doubts before their flight.

In line with the implementation of OPLAN Biyaheng Ayos 2026: Semana Santa and Summer Vacation, and in anticipation of the surge in passenger volume, Civil Aviation Area Manager Engr. Junelito P. Abrazado led a comprehensive inspection of all vital airport facilities under Area Center 12.

This initiative is part of the heightened alert preparations for OPLAN Semana Santa, ensuring that all systems, personnel, and operations are fully equipped and ready for the long weekend. The thorough inspection underscores the commitment to safety, efficiency, and uninterrupted airport operations, providing the traveling public with a smooth and secure journey.

The inspection also included all comfort rooms to ensure cleanliness and proper upkeep, reinforcing the airport’s commitment to maintaining a safe, orderly, and pleasant environment for passengers throughout hours of operation.

All directives are strictly enforced to maintain operational excellence and to uphold the highest standards of public service during this peak travel season.
