The City Planning and Development Department (CPDD) successfully conducted its 2nd Monthly Capacity Development Activity for the year on May 11, 2026, at the OCM Conference Room 2. The activity brought together CPDD personnel in a collaborative environment aimed at strengthening teamwork, enhancing professional competence, and reinforcing a shared commitment to excellence in public service.
Anchored on the theme โProfessionalism and Valor,โ the activity emphasized the core values needed to navigate public service challenges with integrity, dedication, and courage. To support evidence-based planning and monitoring aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Ms. Rhea Mae P. Abuzo from the Philippine Statistics Authority shared about the SDG Watch, a platform an internet-based platform maintained by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) designed to monitor and disseminate the country's progress toward achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. On the other hand, Mr. Eltimar D. Castro, Jr., Director of the FSUU-IDEA Center, introduced foundational concepts on data analytics and its application in strengthening evidence-based planning, improving data interpretation, and supporting more informed decision-making in governance. Furthermore, learning sessions on Ecological Solid Waste Management (ESWM) equipped the CPDD personnel in proper waste segregation, while presentation of the 2025 economic performance of the Caraga Region provided essential macroeconomic benchmarks to guide development planning and ensure strategic policy alignment.
The activity also served as a platform for departmental updates and inter-division feedback sessions, enabling personnel to align priorities, assess ongoing programs, and strengthen coordination. It encouraged active participation and open dialogue, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning within the department.
Through this initiative, CPDD reaffirms its commitment to delivering responsive, efficient, and people-centered planning and development services to the community.
