AKBAYAN YOUTH, PAGSAULOG SA PRIDE 2023!

Akbayan Youth, together with the civil organizations against discrimination and LGBTQIA+ advocacy groups, joins the celebration of Pride 2023 in Caraga.

Since the Caraga-wide march last year, AY - Agusan del Norte has been participating in the now-annual Pride Celebration and Parade led by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR)- Caraga. This year's Pride celebration was held yesterday, June 24, at the SM Butuan City grounds.

Supportive and also present at the celebration were officials of the regional government agencies and local lawmakers, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, from the different provinces of Caraga. This is in line with the CHR's thrust to lobby the Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Ordinance into the provinces and to establish sustainable measures to better protect basic human rights and dignity of the Caraganons.

Further, the Akbayan Youth Agusan del Norte and Butuan, joining the AY chapters around the country, continue to raise the call to pass the two-decade old anti-discriminatory SOGIE Equality Bill which has yet to be voted at the plenary of the Senate. The group has always believed that it has long been due to recognize and put to stop the discrimination to people based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression in the Philippines.

Ang Akbayan Youth (AY) - Agusan del Norte nagkatapok uban sila AY National Secretary-General Justine Balane ug AY National Chairperson / Akbayan Partylist 2nd nominee Dr. RJ Naguit niadtong June 17, 2022, aron mahisgutan ang mga butang kalabot sa bag-o lang nahuman nga National Elections niadtong Mayo 2022 ug ang nahimong mga lakang sa kampanya niini.

Nahimong tumong usab ang pagtuki ug pagtimbang-timbang sa sitwasyong pulitikal ug mga posibilidad sa nasud, labi na ang mga isyu nga duol sa kahimtang sa mga kabatan-onan. Nahimong konklusyon sa Akbayan Youth nga magpadayon ang organisasyon sa mga nauna na nga lakang niini ug pagsulong pa sa interes ug kalambuan sa tanang kabatan-onan, apil na ang nagkalain-laing sektor uban niini.

Ang lokal nga chapters sa Akbayan Youth mapasalamaton sa pagbisita sa mga kaubanan sa National Office ug nagmalipayon sa mabungahong diskusyon uban ang tanan.

AKBAYAN PARTYLIST ON INDEPENDENCE DAY 2022

Today, we celebrate more than our freedom from the chains of colonialism. We uplift the sacrifices of the many heroes who gave their lives so that we could have a country of our own.

The power to determine our destiny as a nation is also our greatest responsibility. The actions of our leaders, the victories and failures of those in power, and our choices as citizens carry life or death consequences for ourselves and the lives of our children, the excluded, and the vulnerable. Times may change, but the central mission of any democracy remains the same – the creation of a society that defends the dignity of the individual, anchored on the principles of justice, fairness, and truth.

While the work of nation building continues, we must remain vigilant against the insidious forces which threaten to enslave us – fake news, historical revisionism, and the threat of an illiberal democracy which exploits genuine discontent and perverts the law for the benefit of a few. The forces that peddle these evils seek to erode our faith not only in the nation we have built, but in one another. We will not let them win.

Let us take back the truth from those who would steal it, and prove that the courage of the Filipino people has lost none of its strength and power. Akbayan is one with our collective struggle towards a truly brighter future for all.

Karon na usab, nagpadayon sa pakig-uban sa kawsa sa serbisyo-publiko ang Akbayan 2nd nominee Dr. RJ Naguit ug Dr. Tricia Robredo, ang anak ni VP Leni Robredo, sa ilang pag-boluntaryong alagad sa katawhan sa programa sa Bayanihan e-Konsulta, nga nagtabang sa mga naglisod panglawas tungod sa COVID-19.
