The trail is over, but the thrill of the game lives on!

The BJMP Caraga Pickleball Tournament reached its exciting conclusion as the region’s finest paddlers battled it out for supremacy at the Butuan Pickleball Center, Butuan City, as part of the celebration of the 31st BJMP Caraga Anniversary. Under the leadership of JCSUPT ATTY FERDINAND D PONTILLO, Regional Director of the Jail Bureau, the tournament showcased not only athleticism and competitive spirit but also camaraderie and sportsmanship among BJMP Caraga personnel.

In the Jail Unit Category, Surigao del Sur District Jail and Bayugan City Jail emerged as the 1st place, while Butuan City Jail – Male Dormitory secured 2nd place.

For the Male Category, JO2 Nonicar C Guingue and JO1 Renelo O Quiseo dominated the competition and claimed the championship. JO1 Mark Andrew C Guiral and JO1 Josh Ervin R Pino finished as first runners-up, while JO1 Jerome E Negapatan and JO1 Kevin Glint Q Penales earned second runners-up.

Meanwhile, in the Female Category, JO1 Jurel E Alban and JO1 Nova Mae J Clarabal captured the championship. JINSP THELMA C ZABALA and JO1 Phoebe S Ejada secured first runner-up, while JO1 Khaira Racel Jay A Pucot and JO1 Alili P Almazan finished as second runners-up.

Congratulations to all the winners and participants! Your grit, discipline, and sportsmanship made this tournament a smashing success.

On September 1, 2026, JCSUPT ATTY FERDINAND D PONTILLO, JD, Regional Director of BJMP Caraga, served as Guest of Honor and Speaker during the Graduation Ceremony of JJLC 2026-02 Class β€œSANGABAY,” where he delivered an inspiring message to the graduating class. His message emphasized the importance of discipline, perseverance, integrity, and commitment as they prepare to embrace the responsibilities that come with a life of public service.

The ceremony marked more than the completion of their trainingβ€”it signified the beginning of a greater journey and a deeper commitment to serve. Their training may have brought them to the finish line, but their dedication to service will define the journey ahead.

Beyond the walls of correctional facilities, the spirit of public service continues to take root.

On September 1, 2026, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Caraga joined various government agencies and partner stakeholders in a tree-planting activity initiated by the Regional Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development 13 (RAGPTD 13) at Sitio Matin-ao, Barangay Bonbon, Butuan City, in observance of the National Crime Prevention Week.

Carrying the theme β€œStrengthening Civilian Oversight and Collective Action for Safer Communities,” the activity highlighted the importance of cooperation, shared responsibility, and active community participation in building safer and more resilient communities.

Ngayong Pambansang Araw ng mga Bayani, ating binibigyang-pugay ang mga dakilang Pilipinong nag-alay ng kanilang talino, tapang, lakas, at buhay para sa kalayaan at kinabukasan ng ating bayan. Ang kanilang sakripisyo ay naging pundasyon ng bansang ating tinatamasa ngayon at nagsisilbing inspirasyon upang patuloy nating pahalagahan ang kalayaan, pagkakaisa, at pagmamahal sa bayan.

Sa makabagong panahon, ang diwa ng kabayanihan ay patuloy na namamayani sa bawat taong tapat na naglilingkod, may malasakit sa kapwa, at ginagampanan ang tungkulin nang may integridad. Sa bawat mabuting gawa at serbisyong iniaalay para sa kapakanan ng iba, naipagpapatuloy natin ang kanilang nasimulan. Sapagkat ang tunay na kabayanihan ay hindi lamang nasusukat sa laki ng sakripisyo, kundi sa pusong handang maglingkod para sa bayan at sa kapwa.

Nagsagawa ang Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)–Surigao del Norte Chapter ng Nationwide Synchronized Jail Decongestion Activity sa Surigao del Norte District Jail, katuwang ang BJMP Surigao del Norte District Jail at Clinical Legal Education Program-SCCR Surigao City. Layunin ng aktibidad na mapalawak ang access to justice ng mga Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) sa pamamagitan ng libreng legal consultation, paghahanda ng mga dokumentong legal, pagbibigay ng impormasyon hinggil sa mga paraan ng early release, referral para sa legal representation, at iba pang kinakailangang legal assistance. Nagkaroon din ng pamamahagi ng hygiene kits bilang bahagi ng programa, na sumasalamin sa patuloy na pagtutulungan ng mga katuwang na institusyon upang matugunan ang legal na pangangailangan ng mga PDL at makatulong sa kanilang maayos na reintegrasyon sa lipunan.

Isinagawa ng BJMP Surigao City ang Media Awareness at Basic Media Training sa pakikipagtulungan ng Juander Radyo News Team upang palawakin ang kaalaman ng publiko sa responsable at wastong paggamit ng social media. Tinalakay sa pagsasanay ang epekto ng fake news, kahalagahan ng pagsusuri at beripikasyon ng impormasyon, wastong pagpaplano ng mga programa, at iba pang kaalaman sa larangan ng media. Nagkaroon din ng aktuwal na pagsasanay sa news anchoring upang mapaunlad ang kanilang komunikasyon, presentasyon, at kumpiyansa sa harap ng mikropono o kamera. Binigyang-diin din ang kahalagahan ng pagbibigay ng pagkakataon sa mga PDL na magbago, makabangon, at muling tanggapin ng lipunan.

Ngayong Agosto 26, 2026, isinagawa sa Conference Room ng BJMP Caraga Regional Office ang Retirement Honors para kay JSINSP (Ret.) ROSALITO A REYNA, bilang pagkilala sa kanyang natatanging 29 na taon ng tapat, marangal, at dedikadong paglilingkod sa Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. Sa loob ng halos tatlong dekada, naging bahagi ng kanyang paglilingkod ang sakripisyo, malasakit, disiplina, at walang pag-iimbot na pagtupad sa tungkulin.

Sa pangunguna ni JCSUPT ATTY FERDINAND D PONTILLO, Regional Director ng BJMP Caraga, buong-pusong kinilala at pinarangalan ng buong BJMP Caraga Family ang mahalagang ambag at serbisyong iniukol ni JSINSP Reyna sa Bureau. Ang kanyang pagreretiro ay hindi pagtatapos ng isang misyon, kundi isang makabuluhang paggunita sa isang buhay na inialay sa serbisyo publiko, malasakit, at kapwa.

Maraming salamat po sa 29 na taong tapat na paglilingkod. Saludo po kami sa inyong dedikasyon at sakripisyo. Mabuhay po kayo, Sir JSINSP Reyna!
