LOOK | In line with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)’s Privacy Awareness Week 2026 celebration, Dr. Angelo P. Asignacion, Division Chief of the Information and Cybersecurity Division, emphasized the importance of ensuring information security in the National ID system through the “Digital National ID and the Data Protection Knowledge Exchange Series.”

His discussion highlighted the National ID system’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ personal information through robust data protection measures, advanced encryption technologies, and secure systems that is aligned with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

With the theme, “ANAMNESIS: Looking Back and Moving Forward,” the PSA continues to champion data privacy rights and responsible digital governance while ensuring that its services, such as the National ID, is within reach of every Filipino.

LOOK | International Merchandise Trade Statistics of the Philippines (2025)

The Philippines posted a total export value of USD 84.48 billion and import value of USD 134.20 billion in 2025.

Exports grew by 15.3%, while imports increased by 5.2% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the country’s balance of trade in goods stood at USD -49.72 billion.

LOOK | UNDRR Consults PSA on Public Disaster Risk Reduction Investment in the Philippines

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) engaged with representatives from the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) on 22 May 2026 to discuss key statistical indicators for the project, “Advancing Risk-Informed Public Disaster Risk Reduction Investment in the Philippines and ASEAN.”

Implemented in partnership with the Office of Civil Defense, Department of Finance, and Department of Budget and Management, this initiative aims to strengthen risk-informed public investment and enhance the country’s fiscal resilience against disasters, while underscoring the vital role of statistics in advancing evidence-based disaster risk reduction strategies

During the consultation, the PSA provided technical inputs through comprehensive presentations delivered by:

- Chief Statistical Specialist Glen Polo – Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the Philippines
- Chief Statistical Specialist Anthony Abalos – National Accounts and Sectoral Output
- Ms. Ma. Corazon de Luna – Overview of Labor Force Statistics

The knowledge exchange session was also supported by officials and staff from the PSA’s Macroeconomic Accounts Service, Economic Sector Statistics Service, Social Sector Statistics Service, and the International Cooperation Unit.

Present during the consultation was the UNDRR delegation composed of Ms. Chinatsu Endo, Programme Management Officer and and Mr. Alper Aras, Economist.

📈 2025 Top Health Concerns Among Filipinos

The Philippine Statistics Authority reports the top causes of death in the country for January to October 2025 (Provisional as of 31 March 2026). Leading the list were:

❤️ Ischaemic heart diseases - 111,896 cases
🔬 Neoplasms - 68,864 cases
🧠 Cerebrovascular diseases - 55,756 cases
🌬️ Pneumonia - 38,607 cases
🩸 Diabetes mellitus - 34,611 cases

While the numbers reflect ongoing health challenges, they also remind us to take small steps toward better lifestyle choices, regular check-ups, and stronger support for community health.
