Emergency response to a dystocia case in a carabao at Brgy Kauran, Ampatuan, Maguindnao del Sur. Assisted in the extraction of a deceased calf to relieve the caracow and preserve her life. Timely intervention was critical to prevent further complications.
Dystocia is defined as an abnormal or difficult parturition resulting from maternal or fetal causes. Common etiologies include fetopelvic disproportion, fetal malpresentation, malposition or malposture, uterine inertia, and pelvic insufficiency. If not promptly managed, dystocia can lead to severe outcomes such as uterine rupture, septic metritis, toxemia, and death of the caracow.
