National Rice Awareness Month

Nobyembre 2025

Tuwing Nobyembre, ipinagdiriwang natin ang National Rice Awareness Month bilang pagkilala sa kahalagahan ng bigas at sa sakripisyo ng mga Pilipinong magsasaka.

Nakikiisa ang Bureau of Plant Industry - National Plant Quarantine Services Division sa layuning isulong ang sapat, ligtas, at napapanatiling produksyon at pagkonsumo ng bigas.

Hinihikayat ang lahat to “Be RICEponsible” — tangkilikin ang lokal na bigas, iwasan ang pagsasayang ng pagkain, at suportahan ang makakalikasang pagsasaka.

Ang bawat butil ng bigas ay sagisag ng sipag, tiyaga, at pag-asa — kaya’t sama-sama nating itaguyod ang masaganang ani at maunlad na buhay para sa bawat Pilipino.🌾

𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰?

A tiny black wasp (𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢) associated with a known pest of coconut, the coconut scale insect (𝘈𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘵𝘶𝘴 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘴), was found in Calauan, Laguna in 2014. C. calauanica parasitizes the A. rigidus by laying its eggs inside the latter. The C. calauanica larvae that emerge then feed on the A. rigidus body internally.

The researchers named it after the locality it was first recorded – in Calauan, Laguna.
