LOOK: Army troops of the 23rd Infantry (Masigasig) Battalion steps up HADR and rescue operations, the Charlie “Cobalt" Company and the Delta “Defenders” Company collaborated with the Local Government Unit (LGU) in their Area of Operation. They conducted Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations for all the affected residents due to heavy rainfall in the communities of Butuan City and Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte on February 04-06, 2024.

The 23IB’s Disaster Response Units (DRU) composed of organic personnel from its line companies and CAFGU Active Auxiliaries together with teams from City and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices in 23IB’s Area of Operations rescued stranded families and individuals in flood-stricken communities. The said teams also rendered transportation assistance to the rescued victims going to the designated evacuation sites.

It can be recalled that on January 29, 2024 another encounter transpired between the 23IB under the leadership of Lt. Col. Jeffrey Balingao, the Commanding Officer, and members of Platoon 2 of the Sub-Regional Sentro De Gravidad (SRSDG) Sagay, Sub Regional Committee 3 (SRC3) of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) at Sitio Kipundaw, Brgy. Sangay, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte that resulted in the deaths of two (2) C**s.

The turnover was also supported by the Municipal Government of Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

BANCASI, Butuan City – The New People’s Army in Agusan del Norte has faced another setback after one (1) member of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered and revealed the location of the six (6) high-powered fi****ms to the 23rd Infantry Battalion, Operational Control unit of the 402nd Infantry (Stingers) Brigade at H23IB, Jamboree Site, P-6, Brgy Alubihid, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte on February 1, 2024.

Recently, series of armed encounters transpired between the 23IB and the remnants of Platoon 2, Sub-Regional Sentro De Grabidad (SRSDG), Sagay, Sub-Regional Committee 3 (SRC-3) of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) that resulted in the neutralization of the Ten (10) NPA members, seizure of high-powered fi****ms and other personal belongings.

Consequently, in more than two weeks’ time, another NPA member identified as Jerome Amparo Marapao alias Mark, a medic of the Platoon 2, Sub-Regional Sentro De Grabidad (SRSDG), Sagay, Sub-Regional Committee 3 (SRC-3) of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) surrendered to 23IB, and revealed the location of the fi****ms that were hidden at Sitio Malambago, Brgy. Sangay, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte. Subsequently, a follow-through operation was conducted which resulted in the discovery of six (6) AK47 Rifles, one (1) cal. 45 pistol, and other war materiel.

According to alias Mark, their hardships were immense, and the sacrifices often seemed endless. Also, he realized that the ideology he once embraced failed to align with the pursuit of genuine progress and unity he had long been fighting for. This proves that the relentless focused military operations of the 402Bde and 23IB has triumphed against the dwindling forces of the local insurgents in the Province of Agusan del Norte.

Brigadier General Adonis Ariel G Orio, Commander of the 402nd Infantry (Stingers) Brigade, said “Many of NPA members are now following the call for a long-lasting and genuine peace that further weakens the NPA organization. However, the 402nd Infantry Brigade will not cease to intensify our operations to track and pursue the remaining communist rebels here in Agusan del Norte and the rest in our Area of Responsibility. We will stay vigilant as we urge you to abandon the armed struggle, rebuild your family, happy and without fear.”

Another NPA rebel surrenders in Agusan del Norte

BUTUAN, BANCASI – Another New People’s Army (NPA) member surrendered bringing along with one (1) high-powered firearm during the Joint Intelligence Operations of the 23rd Infantry Battalion under the Operational Control unit of 402nd Infantry Brigade and Agusan del Norte Provincial Police Office (PPO) February 02, 2024, at H23IB, Jamboree Site, P-6, Brgy Alubihid, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

After the successive military operations of the government forces, the NPA members went on lie low. On Friday, alias Mark surrendered to the 23IB, then another NPA member identified as Isidro Alibango Mag-aso alias Dallas, member of Platoon 2, Sub-Regional Sentro De Grabidad (SRSDG), Sagay, Sub-Regional Committee 3 (SRC-3) of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) submitted himself to 23IB and PPO, Agusan del Norte bringing with him one (1) M16 rifle with ammunition and other personal belongings.

As stated by alias Dallas, his decision to lay down arms is fueled by hunger, insurmountable hardships, and exhaustion. Also, he mentioned that witnessing the diminishing strength of their forces has made it clear to him that the struggle is increasingly unsustainable and embrace a life dedicated to long-lasting peace.

In past two weeks, series of encounter transpired between 23IB and the remnants of Platoon 2, Sub-Regional Sentro De Grabidad (SRSDG), Sagay, Sub-Regional Committee 3 (SRC-3) of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) that led to the neutralization of the ten (10) NPA members, seizure of 14 high-powered fi****ms and other assorted belongings.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Adonis Ariel G Orio, Commander of the 402nd Infantry (Stingers) Brigade, stated “While the NPA members are decreasing, we must always stand alert and be prepared. We anticipate potential shifts in tactics as they adapt to their diminished capabilities. However, we will stay focused, ready, and we will continue to uphold the values of duty and discipline.” Brigadier General Orio ended.

2 NPAs Dead, another 1 Captured in 4ID troops’ pursuit operations in Agusan Norte

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – The troops of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division have continued its pursuit operations against the communist terrorist group (CTG) in Agusan del Norte neutralizing nine (9) CPP-NPA Terrorists (C**s) over the past two (2) weeks.

Recent development resulted in another encounter that transpired early at dawn today, January 29, between the troops of the 23rd Infantry (Masigasig) Battalion under the leadership of Lt. Col. Jeffrey Balingao, the Commanding Officer, and members of Platoon 2 of the so-called Sub-Regional Sentro De Gravidad (SRSDG) Sagay, Sub Regional Committee 3 (SRC3) of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) at Sitio Kipundaw, Brgy. Sangay, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

The clash resulted in the deaths of two (2) C**s and the capture of another one after being abandoned by their escaping comrades. Additionally, the troops also captured two (2) high-powered fi****ms—one (1) M16 rifle and one (1) M4 rifle. Meanwhile, the fatalities and the captured individual were yet to be identified as of this time.

"As the operating troops of 23IB continued their pursuit operations against the remaining members of Platoon 2 of SRSDG Sagay, reports from various sources, including civilian residents, continued to come in; thus, we responded immediately and were able to track the same group, which resulted in another encounter," 402nd Brigade Commander BGen. Adonis Ariel Orio said.

He also added that the no-let-up operations of 23IB for two weeks have resulted in the neutralization of nine (9) personalities from Platoon 2 of SRSDG Sagay, composed of four (4) C**s dead, three (3) captured, and two (2) surrendered.

The series of encounters with SRSDG Sagay started on January 16, 2024, in the hinterland area of Sitio Calaitan, Brgy. Simbalan, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte led to the deaths of two (2) C**s and the capture of three (3) high-powered fi****ms. Moreover, on January 24, another clash transpired between 23IB and the same CTG in the vicinity of P-5, Brgy. Bitan-agan, Butuan City, which resulted in the capture of one (1) M653 carbine rifle, various war materiel, and assorted personal belongings.

It is also worth noting that 23IB, together with the elements of Police Regional Office 13 (PRO13), had successfully conducted a joint intelligence operation that captured two (2) wounded female C**s in Agusan del Norte Provincial Hospital in Brgy. Libertad, Butuan City, on January 25, 2024.

4ID Commander Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II lauded the tireless efforts of the troops of 23IB as well as the 402nd Brigade for the successful pursuit operations and safeguarding of the communities. He also said that these accomplishments are worthy of emulation. Further, he assured that various military operations will be more extensive and aggressive to hunt down the remaining NPA in all of its areas of responsibility.

"The continued military offensive against the NPA will continue to be relentless, in line with our commitment to safeguard our people and the communities against the NPA criminals. While we condole and empathize with the tragic ending of some C**s, with our belief that they’re also victims of CTG deception, we have a mandate to fulfill and a more daunting task that is still yet to be completed and finished. With this, we assure everyone that your Joint Task Force Diamond shall continue to put more pressure on the remaining NPAs and at the same time extend its helping hands through the E-CLIP for those who desire to lay down their arms and abandon the path of violence," MGen. READ I 4ID troops capture 2 wounded Female C**s after recent clash in Butuan City

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – Troops of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division successfully captured two (2) wounded female CPP-NPA Terrorists (C**s) in Agusan del Norte Provincial Hospital in Bgry Libertad, Butuan City early dawn today, January 25, 2024.

The 402nd Infantry Brigade and its operationally controlled unit, the 23rd Infantry Battalion, together with the elements of Police Regional Office-13 (PRO13), immediately launched a Joint Intelligence Operations after receiving reports that 2 C**s, who sustained multiple gunshots during a clashed against 23IB troops in Brgy Bitan-agan, Butuan City, were evacuated and medically treated in Agusan del Norte Provincial Hospital.

402nd Brigade Commander BGen. Adonis Ariel Orio said that yesterday afternoon, January 24, troops of the 23IB under Lt. Col. Jeffrey Balingao, the Commanding Officer, figured in a 10-minute encounter against more or less 10 C**s believed to be under the Platoon 2 of the so-called Sub-Regional Sentro De Gravidad (SRSDG) Sagay, Sub Regional Committee 3 (SRC3) of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) in Brgy. Bitan-agan, Butuan City which resulted in the capture of one (1) M653 Rifle, bandoliers, backpacks and assorted personal belongings of the C**s.

“The captured C**s are identified as Dangga Ayuma Huliao alias Senyang/Mara/Mekay, the Medical Staff of the so-called Headquarters Force NEO of NCMRC, a resident of So. Roa-Roa, Brgy. Umagos, Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental; and Mylene Odayao Domino alias Mayan, Member of Platoon 2, SRSDG Sagay, SRC3, NCMRC, a resident of Brgy. Agsabu, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur. They will continue to be treated and accorded with necessary assistance until they fully recuperate. This is in line with our strict adherence to the respect of the human rights and to the provisions under the international humanitarian law. We are now coordinating with the PRO13 for filing of appropriate cases against the said C**s,” BGen. Orio added.

It can also be recalled, that on January 16, the same terrorist group, the SRSDG Sagay, clashed against the 23IB troops, which resulted to the death of 2 C**s and the capture of 3 High-Powered Fi****ms of the CTG at Sitio Calaitan, Brgy. Simbalan, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

In a statement, 4ID Commander Maj. Gen. Jose Maria R Cuerpo II expressed his utmost gratitude to the civilian residents who continue to cooperate and stand vigilant against the communist terrorist criminals. He also lauded the troops’ resilience and encouraged them to continue serving with dedication until lasting peace for every communities will be achieved.

“We shall continue to be relentless in our combat operations and hunt down those who continue to fight the government and sow violence as a means to promote their own agenda. Hence, while there are still opportunities to return to your families and live normal lives, heed our call of peace and surrender now. With the people and all instrumentalities of the government rallying behind us, you will not win this fight," He added.
