The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Risk Resiliency Program (RRP), successfully conducted Day 1 of the Project LAWA at BINHI โ Cash-for-Training/Work in the Municipality of Buenavista, with a total of 405 beneficiaries from the barangays of Macalang, Malapong, Malpoc, and Matabao.
The activity formally opened with inspiring remarks from Mr. Glen S. Jaen, Municipal Information Officer, who also shared information about the Libreng Sakay initiative of the LGU and the Province of Agusan del Norteโhighlighting accessible support services for the community.
With MENRO-Buenavista as the Municipal Focal Office, this initiative continues to address food insecurity and water insufficiency by empowering communities through environmental protection and sustainable practices.
Under the 20-day Cash-for-Training/Work program, beneficiaries will actively participate in:
๐ฟ Establishment of communal gardens
๐ Development of aquaculture projects
๐ฐ Rehabilitation and installation of water systems within their communities
The following key topics were discussed during Day 1 of the Cash-for-Training:
๐ RA 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000) and relevant local ordinances on Solid Waste Management
๐ฉโ๐ง Laws on the Protection of Women and Children, promoting awareness of rights and welfare
๐ฑ Communal Garden Establishment and Maintenance, focusing on sustainable food production practices
๐ Basic Aquaculture Management, highlighting techniques for efficient and sustainable aquatic resource production
These capacity-building activities aim to equip beneficiaries with practical knowledge and strengthen their role in building resilient and sustainable communities.
Day 1 marks a strong and meaningful start towards empowering communities in Buenavista.
