* Brief Storyline:
--What we know as Guina-ang today was known as Litangfan in the olden
times. It was originally peopled from the three villages of Yommad, Infafarey or Farngao, and Akkang. It is said that in the village of Farngao or Infafarey, there was a pregnant sow that went missing for days. The owners of the pig searched for it in the nearby hills and mountains.
-- After searching for days, they found the sow at the center of where Barangay Guina-ang is situated today. They saw that the pig gave birth somewhere in the thickets. The owners then went back to Farngao to report the elders that they found their pig in Litangfan. The elders then said, "We can't bring back the pig here.In the first place, it left this village to find a better and more suitable place to give birth and it did find a better place.We ought to go where your pig gave birth and settle there."
-- And so they got their belongings and relocated their houses to Litangfan. Other settlers from Yommad and Akkang followed later. Together with those from Farngao or Fafarey, they built the foundations of Guina-ang. Barrio Guina-ang is one of the upland villages of Bontoc, Mountain Province. A visit to Guina-ang gives you an insight of simple living- away from the stress of the daily grind. Villagers tend to their rice fields, gather pine twigs for firewood and call it a day when the sun sets. The idyllic setting provides for a deep slumber at night and an opportunity to awake in a glorious early morning setting. Visit Guina-ang and experience living with the villagers.
