Bontoc, Southern Leyte Achieves โIDEALโ Rating in 2026 LCPC Functionality Assessment
Bontoc, Southern Leyte โ The Municipality of Bontoc has earned a prestigious โIDEALโ level of functionality in the 2026 Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) Functionality Assessment, affirming its strong commitment to child welfare and protection.
In an official communication dated April 29, 2026, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) โ Southern Leyte Provincial Office announced that Bontoc achieved an impressive total weighted score of 98.86%, placing it 2nd out of 17 municipalities in the province.
The assessment, which covered Performance Year 2025, was conducted by the Provincial Inter-Agency Monitoring Task Force (PIMTF) starting February 4, 2026. It evaluated local government units based on key indicators that measure the effectiveness of programs and systems for child protection.

These results highlight the municipalityโs well-structured policies, adequate funding allocation, and efficient delivery of services dedicated to childrenโs welfare.
Recognition and Continued Commitment
The DILG commended the leadership of Mayor Noel Alinsub and the entire municipal team for their โunwavering commitment and partnershipโ in promoting a child-friendly community.
Despite the high rating, the agency also encouraged the local government to continue improving certain indicators to sustain and enhance its performance.
The recognition reinforces Bontocโs standing as a model municipality in Southern Leyte when it comes to child protection initiatives. With its near-perfect score and consistent performance, the local government continues to set a benchmark for other municipalities aiming to strengthen their LCPC programs.
