A Tree Saved is a Life Saved! 🌳
This old-growth DAO tree, also known as the New Guinea Walnuts, or “Paldo”, located along the road of Barangay Balanacan, Mogpog, Marinduque is approximately 130 years old. It has a diameter at breast height (dbh) of 1.7 meters with a total height about 32 meters.
The life of this significant tree was successfully saved from being cut in line with the “Build, Build, Build” program of the government implemented by the DPWH. DENR-PENRO Marinduque in collaboration with the Municipal Government of Mogpog and its local communities STOOD FIRM to save and preserve the tree given its historical and ecological significance. A Certificate of Commendation was awarded to PENR Officer Imelda M. Diaz for her extra-ordinary efforts to preserve the environment and natural resources such as saving this century-old tree. It will continue to stand firmly as a proof of effective law enforcement and community-driven conservation initiative and commitment.
This may serve as a catalyst to inspire people to have the courage towards the preservation of our natural heritage. As we celebrate our Valentine’s day ❤️, let us continue to create a more loving and harmonious relationship between human and the environment.
We all have the power to make a difference through simple and meaningful act that will surely have a great impact to ensure a clean, healthier and a comfortable environment for the present and future generations.
Truly, the individual and collective efforts, which demonstrate a strong commitment to protect the environment, deserve a ‘hug’. 🤗
As we can hear the tree says, "You let me LIVE, i'll let you BREATHE". 🫰
Thank you DENR Forest Management Bureau for this meaningful "Tree Hugging Campaign" activity.
