BIYAHENG CARAGA SERIES: Adlaw ng Tinuy-an
A booming city by the riverbank, Bislig City is definitely a place to go if you want to experience nature at its finest. It is also known for its engaging culture, such as the celebration of its scenic view of Tinuy-an Falls.
Tinuy-an Falls, considered by locals to be the Crown Jewel of Surigao del Sur, was institutionalized through an ordinance stating the celebration of this majestic wonder every September 13th to September 23rd. This celebration, known as Adlaw ng Tinuy-an, was created by Ordinance No. 2016-07 and has been held for the past 11 years.
Tinuy-an is derived from the Cebuano word Tinuyo-an, which means "intentional act or performance to attain an objective or goal." In the Filipino context, it can also mean babalik-balikan, or "a place you'll return to."
This waterfall was designated as one of the three protected areas in Caraga region in 2018 by Republic Act No. 11038, also known as the Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 2018.
Bislig City celebrated this magnificent beauty in its own way. It was by watching the locals dance and be in good spirits during a fiesta. But the highlight of all these festivities is the amazing beauty that soaks into the heart of each dancer.
