The City Agriculture Office (CAO), together with the Bantay Dagat, conducted fishery law enforcement activities covering the coastal areas of Poblacion, Comawas, Mangagoy, and Labisma using a thermal drone.

The operation, with the call sign “Angkol Sam,” resulted in the apprehension of three (3) fishing boats and six (6) violators, composed of five (5) males and one (1) female, found using three (3) types of illegal/destructive fishing gears.

All apprehended individuals were given appropriate warnings. However, the unlawful and destructive fishing gears were confiscated and placed under custody for proper disposition in accordance with applicable fishery laws, ordinances, and regulations.

The activity was conducted to strengthen fishery law enforcement, deter the use of illegal and destructive fishing methods, and protect the City's coastal and fishery resources.

Conducted documentation during the harvest of the Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) Project in Barangay Bucto on August 16, 2026 . The project is funded by DOST-PCAARRD and facilitated by Mindanao State University (MSU) at Naawan, headed by Ms. Elgen M. Arriesgado, Project Leader, and Mr. Mark A. Dela Peña, Project Technical Aide VI.

The project aims to enhance prawn production in the country under the “Balik Sugpo Program,” which promotes the recovery and development of the local prawn industry through improved and sustainable aquaculture technologies.

The trough of the Low Pressure Area (LPA), which was initially monitored outside the eastern boundary of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), is currently the primary weather disturbance affecting commercial fishing operations along the eastern seaboard of the Philippines.
