𝗕𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

The Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) – Department of Energy (DOE) Center for Affiliated Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and Conservation (CARE), presently based at NISU–Victorino Salcedo Campus in Sara, Iloilo, recently visited the Municipality of Bingawan to conduct an inventory of non-commercial renewable energy sources, including solar, hydro, and wind resources.

This activity forms part of the Renewable Energy Database Development initiative, which aims to provide updated information that will support the government’s efforts in promoting the use of renewable energy. Through this initiative, the Municipality of Bingawan joins the continuing advocacy to encourage cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions and reduce dependence on fossil-based sources of electricity.

By virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 1248, Malacañang has declared 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 (𝗡𝗼𝗻-𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴) 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗼.

This declaration is in connection with the celebration of the Founding Anniversary of the Municipality of Bingawan and the vibrant Pagnahi-an Festival 2026.

To allow all Bingawanons to fully participate in the festivities, cultural activities, and community celebrations, the Local Government Unit of Bingawan requested that the special non-working holiday be observed on June 17, 2026 (Wednesday) in lieu of June 21, which falls on a Sunday.

Let us come together in celebrating our rich culture, heritage, and the continuing progress of our beloved Municipality of Bingawan.

𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗖𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗢 𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗩𝗘𝗦𝗧 | Successful Aquaculture Initiative in Bingawan

Last February 24, 2026, personnel from the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) conducted a stocking activity of Ulang (Giant Freshwater Prawn), followed by the stocking of tilapia fingerlings on March 4, 2026, at Brgy. Poblacion, Bingawan, Iloilo.

Barely three months after the stocking activities, the project achieved a successful initial harvest last May 20, 2026, producing a total of 100 kilograms of Giant Freshwater Prawn and 1,200 kilograms of Tilapia.

The successful harvest reflects the effectiveness of sustainable aquaculture initiatives in enhancing local fish production, promoting food security, and creating additional livelihood opportunities for the people of Bingawan.

This milestone also highlights the importance of continued collaboration between government agencies and local communities in advancing fisheries and aquaculture development in the municipality.

This morning, during the regular Monday Flag Raising Ceremony, the Municipality of Bingawan formally presented and received the Cultural Inventory Book of the Municipality of Bingawan — a significant milestone in the municipality’s continuing efforts to preserve, document, and promote its rich cultural heritage and identity.

The book was officially received by Mayor Matt P. Palabrica together with Sangguniang Bayan Members Nemesio A. Cachite and Lucia Pendioday, and Mr. Marvin P. Saladar, Acting Municipal Treasurer and former Tourism Officer-Designate, whose efforts and support contributed to the cultural mapping initiatives of the municipality.

The Cultural Inventory Book is the output of the Cultural Mapping of Panay and Guimaras Project led by the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) in partnership with West Visayas State University (WVSU). The project aims to document and safeguard the rich cultural heritage, traditions, historical resources, and local identity of communities across the region.

The book serves as an important repository of Bingawan’s cultural treasures, featuring documented heritage sites, traditions, local stories, arts, practices, and other significant cultural resources that reflect the identity and legacy of the Bingawananons. It also stands as a valuable reference for future generations and highlights the municipality’s commitment to cultural preservation, education, tourism development, and community pride.

This achievement further strengthens the Municipality’s partnership with academic and cultural institutions in safeguarding local heritage and ensuring that the stories, traditions, and cultural wealth of Bingawan continue to be preserved and celebrated for years to come.
