OFFICIAL STATEMENT

We recognize that former SP Alan Cayetano is no longer the senate president, and Sen. Win Gatchalian is recognized as acting Senate President.

Voting 11-0-6, the all leaders caucus of the Kanan Party recognizes the leadership of Sen. Win Gatchalian as acting Senate President.

As conservatives, we believe in excellence, order, and hardwork, not chaos, incompetence, and laziness. Under the leadership of Senate President Cayetano, the Senate has been a laughingstock, shielding a fugitive, and promoting a culture of lazy boycott despite being the (former) majority for three (3) days.

While there are legal debates regarding the number of quorum, constitutionality, historicity, and jurisprudential support of the present set-up of the new Majority, one thing is not debatable.

Senators must show up. If they want to vote, they must show up. If they want to debate, they must show up. If they want to serve the Filipino people, they must show up.

Hence, the new leadership was given for those who showed up.

We are Kanan Party, and we are ready to show up.

"WALANG KAIBIGAN. WALANG KUMPARE. WALANG KAMAG-ANAK O ANAK NA MAAARING MAGSAMANTALA NGAYON" (ESTRADA, 1998, INAUGURATION SPEECH).

This statement has been fulfilled, not by ERAP, but by the administration of President Bongbong Marcos. For the first time in BBM's administration, a sitting senator was arrested, and now in jail due to allegations of plunder involving flood control projects.

For months, the Philippines had been doing investigations, inquiries, and fact-finding to hold our politicians accountable. As right-wingers, we welcome and support this development.

No one is above the law-not Presidential children, not dynasties, and not even allies of the Dutertes, Marcoses or whichever faction. For years, dynasties have treated public funds as their own personal piggy bank, stealing millions while ordinary Filipinos suffer during typhoon season. The Sandiganbayan did the right thing by issuing the warrant of arrest without bail. The treasury of the country belongs to the People, and not to the few elite.

This is how we will drain the swamp. By arresting the corrupt and preventing them to continue whatever plunder they have been doing.

This is not political persecution. This is justice for the Filipino people.

And with 55 days remaining before PBBM's SONA, what we hope is not just: "MAHIYA NAMAN KAYO!", but rather: "IPINAPAHIYA NA NATIN SILA".

We are Kanan Party, and we are against corruption!
