A Simple Request
Fr: Dr. Madz Flores
As I put on my uniform and grab my coffee this Christmas morning, the streets are quiet... but I know the ER won't be for long. 🎄☕️
Every year, we see a "post-celebration surge"—patients who waited for Noche Buena to end before seeking help. If you find yourself in the ER today, please remember: The ER is not "first-come, first-served." It operates on Triage.
We prioritize life-threatening cases first. If you see others rushing in ahead of you, it’s not because we don't care about your pain; it’s because someone else is fighting for their life. Waiting is actually a sign of Hope—it means you are stable enough to have the luxury of time that others in the resuscitation bay do not.
To stay safe while waiting, remember MADZ:
🧐 Monitor your symptoms closely while seated.
🚨 Alert the triage nurse immediately if you feel worse.
📂 Defer food/drink, but have your Documents ready to speed things up.
🧘 Zen—keep a calm mindset to keep your heart rate down.
This season is about Hope, Peace, and Love. Let’s bring that spirit into the waiting room. Patience is the greatest form of kindness you can offer your medical team today as we work away from our families to help you get back to yours.
Please be kind, be patient, and help us help everyone. Merry Christmas! ❤️🩺✨
