The Local Government Unit of Tuba proudly received the 2026 Philippine Association of Local Government Accountants (PhALGA) Excellence Award in recognition of its commitment to good governance, transparency, accountability, and excellent public service.

This award is a reminder of the Municipality’s continued efforts in serving the people of Tuba with dedication and integrity.

The award was given to LGUs recognized as passers of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) 2024.

TUBA LGU JOINS PROVINCE-WIDE ADOPTION OF GEORISKPH

The Tuba Local Government Unit joined all 13 municipalities of Benguet in formally signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with DOST-PHIVOLCS for the institutional adoption of the GeoRiskPH platform during the 2026 First Semester Engagement of the Provincial Science, Technology, and Innovation Coordinating Committee (PSTICC)-Benguet held on May 26, 2026 in La Trinidad.

GeoRiskPH is a multi-agency initiative that provides science-based tools designed to support disaster risk reduction and informed decision-making. Through platforms such as HazardHunterPH, GeoAnalyticsPH, GeoMapperPH, and PlanSmart Ready to Rebuild, local government units are equipped with hazard assessments, risk analytics, and planning tools that can guide safer and more strategic actions.

For Tuba LGU, the adoption of GeoRiskPH will help strengthen local disaster preparedness efforts, especially in communities that are vulnerable to landslides, flooding, earthquakes, and other natural hazards. These tools will support better planning and quicker, more informed responses during emergencies.

With this partnership, LGU Tuba takes another step to ensure that communities are better prepared and protected from disasters.

𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗙𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗙𝗜𝗦𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗙𝗢𝗟𝗞 𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗠 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗙𝗢𝗙𝗔𝗗 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

The Municipality of Tuba, through the Office of the Municipal Agriculture, successfully conducted the Culminating Program and Farmers Officials for a Day (FOFAD) on May 26, 2026, at the Municipal Grounds, Poblacion, Tuba, Benguet, as part of the celebration of Farmers and Fisherfolk Month 2026.

With the theme, “Pagbibigay-Pugay sa mga Magsasaka at Mangingisda sa Gitna ng Hamon at Krisis,” the activity recognized the dedication and contribution of farmers and fisherfolk in ensuring food security and supporting the local economy despite various challenges faced by the agricultural sector.

Municipal Agriculturist Mr. Flordelizo B. Abance acknowledged the guests and participants, followed by the welcome remarks of Vice Mayor Maria L. Carantes.

Municipal Mayor Clarita P. Sal-ongan also delivered her message, emphasizing the importance of supporting and empowering local farmers.

One of the highlights of the activity was the Farmers Officials for a Day (FOFAD), where selected farmers were given the opportunity to symbolically assume leadership roles in the municipality through the donning and sashing rites, turnover ceremony, and oath-taking administered by the Municipal Mayor.

Mr. Mark Roy Q. Macanlalay, Regional Manager III of the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), also shared a message of support for the agricultural sector and encouraged farmers to continue strengthening local agricultural development.

The program also included an open forum where farmers were able to raise concerns and share insights regarding agriculture and livelihood. In the afternoon, participants took part in various activities, including the FOFAD session, FFM Jam, and the distribution of coconut planting materials through the partnership of the Philippine Coconut Authority and the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist.

The activity concluded with closing remarks from Hon. Eugene M. Gabino, SB Member and Committee Chairperson on Agriculture, followed by acknowledgments from Ms. Michelle S. Minalang, Senior Agriculturist. //TMM

𝗖𝗢𝗦𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗕𝗔𝗗 𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦: 𝗔 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘-𝗦𝗜𝗭𝗘 𝗕𝗢𝗔𝗥𝗗 𝗚𝗔𝗠𝗘

The Municipal Council for the Protection of Children (MCPC) Development Committee conducted the Adolescent Health Program entitled “Cost of Bad Decisions: A Life-Size Board Game” in partnership with the Municipal Health Services Office (MHSO) headed by Dr. Angeline F. Calatan and NHWSS - Department of Health. The activity was conducted on May 20, 2026, at Camp 4 and Camp 6, Tuba, Benguet.

More than 50 adolescents from the barangay attended and actively participated in the activity.

The program aimed to educate adolescents on important issues affecting their well-being, including teenage pregnancy, puberty, mental health, and smoke-free awareness among adolescents. Through interactive discussions and activities, participants were encouraged to make informed and responsible decisions.

Hon. Jerome Palaoag, SB Member and member of the MCPC Development Committee, also joined the activity and encouraged the youth to make wise decisions and become responsible individuals in the community.

A Life-Size Board Game was also introduced as an engaging learning activity designed to help adolescents understand the possible consequences of their choices and actions. A Candle Lighting Ceremony carrying the theme, “Light the Legacy: Perseverance, Advocacy, Act, Keeping the Light,” was conducted on May 25, 2026 during the regular Flag Ceremony at the Municipal Grounds, Poblacion, Tuba, Benguet.

The activity was led by Municipal Mayor Clarita P. Sal-ongan and attended by municipal officials, employees, health workers, and members of the community.

The ceremony symbolized hope, unity, and the commitment of the municipality in promoting HIV awareness and advocacy. Through the lighting of candles, participants expressed solidarity in keeping the light of compassion, education, and action alive in the Municipality of Tuba./Kate

DILG-CAR proudly celebrates the exemplary performance of Local Government Units across the Cordillera Administrative Region in the CY 2026 Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) Functionality Assessment.

Out of eighty-three (83) LGUs assessed, seventy-three (73) achieved the IDEAL Level of Functionality, reflecting strong and effective child protection systems at the local level. The remaining LGUs were assessed under the MATURE and PROGRESSIVE Levels, demonstrating sustained efforts toward continuously strengthening LCPC structures, policies, and service delivery for children.

This accomplishment underscores the unwavering commitment of LGUs in advancing responsive, inclusive, and rights-based governance for children through strengthened Local Councils for the Protection of Children.

DILG-CAR extends its sincere appreciation to all Local Government Units and partner stakeholders for their dedication and collective efforts in ensuring the promotion, protection, and fulfillment of every child’s rights and welfare in the region.

The Municipality of Tuba will conduct a Kadiwa sa Pangulo on May 25, 26, and 28, 2026 at the Municipal Ground, Poblacion, Tuba, as part of the celebration of Farmers and Fisherfolks Month.

The activity aims to support and promote local farmers, fisherfolks, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by providing them a platform to showcase and sell their products directly to the public.

Various locally produced goods and agricultural products from the municipality will be featured during the activity, highlighting the rich produce and livelihood products of Tuba communities.

Also joining the activity is the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), which will accompany MSMEs in displaying various coconut-based products and by-products to further promote the coconut industry and support local entrepreneurs.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to visit the Kadiwa sa Pangulo and support local producers by purchasing fresh and quality products during the scheduled dates.
