๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐,๐๐ฎ๐๐ฏ๐ ๐๐ข๐ณ๐๐๐ฒ๐โBeneficiaries with hearing impairment expressed gratitude to the provincial government of Nueva Vizcaya and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) after receiving financial assistance intended to help them acquire better hearing devices.
Among the recipients were 88-year-old Melencio Eugenio of Barangay Calaocan, Quezon, and Constantino Puyales, former punong barangay of Darruba, Quezon, who said the assistance would help them purchase more suitable hearing aids and improve their communication with their families and communities.
On Thursday, May 28, the provincial government distributed P10,000 each to 26 more residents with hearing impairment, marking the third batch of beneficiaries under its joint assistance program with the DSWD.
Gov. Atty. Jose V. Gambito led the distribution, together with personnel from the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) under the Office of the Governor, headed by Venus R. Cadabona.
โThe provincial government is always ready to assist our fellow persons with disabilities. We want them to feel that they are included in government programs and that they are not being left behind,โ Gambito said.
The governor said the assistance is part of the provincial governmentโs continuing commitment to provide support to vulnerable sectors, including persons with disabilities, senior citizens and other residents in need.
Of the 26 latest beneficiaries, 25 came from the municipality of Quezon, while one was from Bambang.
The first batch, composed of 25 recipients, received the assistance on April 29, while the second batch had 28 beneficiaries. With the latest payout, a total of 79 beneficiaries have so far received the provincial governmentโs counterpart aid.
Under the program, each beneficiary receives P10,000 from the provincial government as counterpart assistance to the P10,000 earlier provided by the DSWD, bringing the total aid to P20,000 per recipient.
Cadabona said the program has a total allocation of P3 million, consisting of P1.5 million from the Office of the Governor and P1.5 million from the DSWD, to assist up to 150 qualified beneficiaries across the province.
She said the additional assistance from the provincial government would help beneficiaries purchase better-quality, Bluetooth-enabled hearing aids, which may cost around P80,000 to P100,000.
Cadabona also said the provincial government is seeking additional support from the Office of the President to help cover the remaining cost of the hearing devices.
