At the recent VotEng’g 2026 forum held at the Engineering Theater in Melchor Hall, candidates for the UP Diliman University Student Council once again revealed the troubling reality of the normalization—even romanticization—of armed struggle in UP student politics.

When asked about their stance on armed struggle, candidates from the “Sulong Tayo” coalition reportedly expressed affirmative positions, while most bets from UP Alyansa agreed with reservations. Regardless of nuance or qualification, the fact remains that future student leaders of the country’s premier state university openly entertained the legitimacy of armed struggle in the Philippine context.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | Look 203rd CDC and Nueva Vizcaya ROTC Units recieved Commendation from Sangguniang Panlalawigan

On 180940H May 2026, personnel of 203rd Community Defense Center (CDC), led by LTC PAULO A ESPINOSA (FS) PA, Director, attended the Awarding of the Resolution and Certificates of Commendation conducted by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Nueva Vizcaya held at the SP Hall, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

The recognition was awarded to 203rd CDC for its steadfast guidance, leadership, and commitment in strengthening the ROTC Program in the Province. Likewise, the six (6) activated ROTC Units of Nueva Vizcaya were commended for their outstanding performance during the Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) 2026 after securing the Top 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 9 spots among the sixteen (16) participating ROTC Units in the Region.

The activity was also attended by School Presidents, NSTP Directors, Corps Commanders, and ROTC Commandants from its respective institutions, reflecting the strong partnership and shared commitment in developing disciplined, service-oriented, and nation-building youth.

This achievement stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication, teamwork, and excellence of the ROTC community in Nueva Vizcaya.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | “Shaping the Youth Through Discipline, Leadership, and Patriotism” 🇵🇭

From 11–22 May 2026, personnel of this Center led by LTC PAULO A ESPINOSA (FS) PA, Director, successfully conducted the CAT-1 Training for the Grade 10 students of Our Lady of Fatima School of Villaverde.

More than just a training activity, the program became a meaningful experience that instilled discipline, confidence, responsibility, teamwork, and love of country among the students. Through the dedication and effiirts of the Advance Cadets of the Saint Mary’s University ROTC Unit, the students were taught with the basic military drills, military discipline, leadership, and other ROTC-related lessons that will help shape them into better individuals and future leaders of the nation.

Under the supervision of Mr. John Paul M. Olaya, LPT, CAT-1 Commandant, and with the support of Ms. Lily-Ann P. Urban, LPT, School Principal, the activity served as a reminder that today’s youth, when guided with discipline and purpose, can become tomorrow’s responsible citizens and defenders of the nation.

In every command, every step, and every challenge overcome, the spirit of leadership and patriotism was strengthened among the youth — proving that the future of the nation remains in capable hands. 🇵🇭💪

I𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | Simultaneous Graduation and Oath-Taking Ceremony of Basic and Advance (1CL) ROTC Cadets

On 160800 May 2026, the 203rd CDC successfully conducted the Simultaneous Graduation and Oath-Taking Ceremony of Basic and Advance (1CL) ROTC Cadets from the six (6) activated ROTC Units in Nueva Vizcaya held at Tonus Gymnasium, Saint Mary's University, with Hon. Jose V. Gambito, Governor, Province of Nueva Vizcaya, as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

In his inspiring message, Governor Gambito emphasized that true leadership begins with discipline, responsibility, and genuine service to the community. He encouraged the cadets to continue becoming role models of patriotism, integrity, and dedication as future leaders of the nation. He likewise recognized the ROTC program for shaping the youth into disciplined, resilient, and service-oriented individuals ready to contribute to nation-building.

The activity was attended by NSTP Directors, ROTC Commandants, training staff, and school officials from various ROTC units in the province. A total of 62 Advance ROTC cadets graduated, while 2,184 Basic ROTC cadets successfully completed the training—an achievement that reflects their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence.

The ceremony was conducted through a hybrid set-up wherein the KCP ROTC Unit and NVSU Bambang ROTC Unit participated via VTC, while the Saint Mary's University ROTC Unit, NVSU Bayombong ROTC Unit, PLT ROTC Unit, and ACI ROTC Unit attended the activity face-to-face.

As these cadets complete another milestone in their ROTC journey, may they continue to embody the values of discipline, courage, leadership, and love of country in serving the community and the nation. 🇵🇭

Training Program (NSTP)

On 120900 May 2026, the 203rd Community Defense Center (CDC), 2RCDG, RESCOM, PA, led by LTC PAULO A ESPINOSA (FS) PA, Director, hosted the Signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) of an Integrated NSTP in coordination with the PLGU, Nueva Vizcaya held at Ituy Hall, Capitol Compound, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

The activity was graced by Hon. Jose V. Gambito, Governor, Province of Nueva Vizcaya, MGEN GULLIVER L. SIÑERES PA, Commander, 5ID, PA, represented by BGEN RHODERICK L PARALLAG PA, Commander, 502nd Infantry “Liberator” Brigade; Dr. Wilfredo Dumale, School President, Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) ; Dr. Juliette M. Paras, CESO III, Regional Director, CHED-RO2; represented by Engr. Joven Jacinto, Education Supervisor II, Director Leon DG. Rafael Jr., Regional Director, OCD-RO2. It was also witnessed by Hon. During the program, COL CAMILO A SADDAM GSC (INF) PA, ADC for RRA, presented the purpose of the Integrated Training Concept and highlighted the key points of the MOA.

This initiative signifies the commitment of the 203rd CDC and its partner agencies in strengthening collaboration to promote a more responsive and comprehensive NSTP geared toward developing disciplined, service-oriented, and patriotic young leaders.
