A Day of Joy, Reunion, and Compassion: First Day at Banao Elementary School
"We started the day with smiles and happy reunions, but as the morning went on, our hearts turned to those in need far away."
The first day of classes opened with so much warmth and excitement at Banao Elementary School. Around 200 learners, together with supportive parents, our hardworking teachers, and staff, gathered for the solemn flag raising ceremony. Laughter filled the grounds as old friends met again and new connections were madeβfull of hope for the school year ahead.
But beyond the joy and reunion, late in the morning, we learned about the disaster that struck the Mindanao area. News of the earthquake reached us, and the happy atmosphere shifted into one of deep care and concern. We immediately paused to lift our voices in prayer: for all the victims and families affected by the quake, asking for their safety, strength, and comfort. We also offered special prayers for all teachers and learners everywhereβmay everyone be kept safe, guided, and blessed as we continue our journey in learning and life.
It was a meaningful reminder that at Banao Elementary, we are one big family. We celebrate together, and we stand together in prayer and compassion, no matter how far apart we may be.
