PCG TIGHTENS SAFETY AND SECURITY MEASURES UNDER OPLAN TRIP ORDER: BACK TO SCHOOL 2026
Department of Transportation (PCG) is prepared to ensure the safety, security, and convenience of travelers in the implementation of Philippine Coast Guard (DOTr)โs Oplan Travel Alright: Back to School 2026 from June 5 to 11, 2026, in relation to the opening of classes for School Year 2026โ2027.
According to PCG Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan PCG, as part of the operation, the PCG will intensify the implementation of maritime safety and security measures in ports nationwide. This includes stricter inspections of marine vehicles, additional deployment of personnel at ports and terminals, and enhanced coordination with various government agencies to prevent overcrowding, overloading, and other incidents that could pose a risk to passengers.
Partner with other government agencies such as Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), PCG also supported the establishment of the DOTr Concern Help Desk in the ports to serve as an immediate office for receiving complaints, requests for assistance, and other public concerns.
The PCG will continue to conduct vigilance and maritime security operations to ensure safe and smooth travel of the public during the Back to School period.
Also expect additional deployment of Coast Guard K9 Units to ports to prevent any illegal activity that may compromise passenger safety.
This activity is being carried out as part of the promotion of the Intensified Community Assistance, Awareness, Response, and Enforcement (iCARE) Program of PCG, which aims to strengthen community engagement through programs aimed at providing prompt, caring, and reliable public service for all Filipinos.
