From 21 to 25 January 2026, the Maritime Safety Services UnitโSouthern Tagalog, through its Field Maintenance and Inspection Center- Southern Tagalog (FMIC-STL), conducted scheduled inspection, repair, and preventive maintenance activities on lighthouses in Quezon Province in line with its continuing efforts to ensure the reliability, functionality, and uninterrupted operation of Aids to Navigation within its Area of Responsibility.
During the maintenance period, personnel repaired sun switch/photo eye components, replaced defective lantern lenses, and performed other preventive maintenance work at ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐จ๐๐จ in Brgy. Balobo, Infanta; ๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ค๐๐ฅ in Brgy. Bukal, Jomalig; and ๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ซ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐๐๐ฅ in Brgy. Ungos, Real. These activities were undertaken to restore optimal lighting performance, prevent potential system failures, and maintain the operational efficiency of the lighthouse facilities.
The conduct of regular preventive maintenance services plays a vital role in enhancing the visibility and reliability of Aids to Navigation, thereby supporting the safe and efficient movement of vessels traversing key maritime routes in Quezon Province. Such initiatives contribute to risk reduction at sea and strengthen navigational safety for both commercial and small craft operations.
The Unit remains steadfast in providing dependable navigation support services and proactive maintenance programs to support the Philippine Coast Guardโs mission to promote maritime safety, security, and reliability across the maritime domain.
