๐ CALABARZON Food Inflation Shows Mixed Movements in March 2026; Fruits and Nuts and Rice Lead Price Gains
In March 2026, the Food group in CALABARZON for all income households posted mixed price movements, with food inflation increasing to 1.6 percent from 0.8 percent in February, as several food items recorded faster inflation while others slowed down or declined.
Flour, bread and other bakery products, pasta products, and other cereals; fruits and nuts, particularly bananas; milk, dairy products, and eggs, especially powdered milk; sugar, confectionery and desserts such as peanut butter; and ready-made food and other food products not elsewhere classified, like infant formula, recorded faster price increases. Rice also reversed its previous decline, posting a 2.7 percent inflation rate.
Meanwhile, corn; fish and other seafood, particularly galunggong; and oils and fats registered slower price increases compared with the previous month.
On the other hand, vegetables, tubers, cooking bananas and other related items, particularly eggplant, recorded a price decline at -0.4 percent. Meat and other parts of slaughtered land animals, including pork, continued to post a faster decline at -3.6 percent, reflecting further easing in meat prices.
