Batan Stands Together Against Human Trafficking ๐
In observance of the National Anti-Trafficking in Persons Awareness Month, the Provincial Government of Aklan through the PCAT-VAWC, in collaboration with the Municipality of Batan through the MCAT-VAWC, joined the 2026 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons and Blue Heart Campaign held today, July 30, 2026, at the Batan Municipal Grounds.
After the program, the participants proceeded to Barangays Man-up, Ambolong, and Poblacion to bring the advocacy closer to our communities through an Information and Advocacy Campaign. The activity focused on raising awareness about human trafficking, how it can be prevented, and the importance of protecting individuals who may be vulnerable to exploitation.
Present during the activity were Mayor Michael R. Ramos, Vice Mayor JK Amir L. Demeterio, and Sangguniang Bayan Members Joy B. Ramos, William R. Bautista Jr., and Ramy T. Jacinto.
Also in attendance were Mrs. Evangeline F. Gallega, RSW (PSWDO); Hon. Ma. Maya Bien M. Tolentino, Provincial Prosecutor; Commander Pat Joenard Belarmino of the PCG Kalibo Sub-Station; CSO representatives; Wendell L. Leonor, OIC-Municipal Administrator, LGU and MCAT-VAWC Members of Batan; representatives from Batan Academy (A National School); Barangay Councils for the Protection of Children (BCPC); stakeholders; and PCAT-VAWC Members.
More than just a one-day activity, the campaign serves as a reminder that awareness, vigilance, and collective action can help protect our communities. By staying informed, speaking up, and looking out for one another, we can help prevent trafficking and create a safer environment for everyone. ๐
