The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office I, in partnership with the 2nd District Congressional Office, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), held the Graduation Ceremony for beneficiaries who successfully completed the training leading to Security Services NC II on September 4, 2026, at Robinsons Place Ilocos, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.

Seven (7) graduates from the City of Batac successfully completed the training, which covered various areas related to security services and workplace readiness. The 10-day training included Basic Security Services in partnership with TESDA, Occupational Safety and Health and other learning sessions in partnership with DOLE and PDEA, Basic Marksmanship Training, and an actual firing activity held in San Nicolas. The graduates are also set to undergo assessment, tentatively scheduled on September 5โ€“6.

The graduation ceremony was graced by the presence of the City Social Welfare and Development Officer, Ms. Marneli P. Sabas, who joined in recognizing the graduates for completing the training and taking an important step toward employment opportunities.

With the continued support of City Mayor Hon. Mark Christian โ€œMarkeeโ€ R. Chua, City Vice Mayor Hon. Engr. Albert D. Chua, and the City Government officials, the City Government of Batac remains committed to supporting programs that equip Batacqueรฑos with skills and opportunities for sustainable employment.

The City Government of Batac, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), provided financial assistance to ninety-three (93) Batacqueรฑos under the Crisis Assistance to Respond to Emergency Situations (CARES) Program on September 3, 2026, at the City Hall Lobby.

The assistance was extended to help beneficiaries with immediate needs, including medical expenses, food, funeral costs, educational requirements, and other essential concerns.

The distribution was carried out with the continued support of City Mayor Hon. Mark Christian โ€œMarkeeโ€ R. Chua, City Vice Mayor Hon. Engr. Albert D. Chua, and the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, reflecting the City Governmentโ€™s continued commitment to providing timely assistance to Batacqueรฑos facing difficult circumstances.

The City Government of Batac, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), and Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) recognized the Octogenarian, Nonagenarian, Pre-Centenarian, and Centenarian Awardees aged 80 years old and above for the month of July 2026 during the distribution held on August 25, 2026, at the City Hall Lobby.

A total of one hundred seven (107) senior citizens received their milestone awards, celebrating not only the years they have lived but also the experiences, memories, and contributions they have shared with their families and communities.

The activity was graced by the presence of Hon. Mayor Mark Christian โ€œMarkeeโ€ R. Chua, whose continued support helps strengthen programs that recognize and promote the welfare of senior citizens. The initiative also continues to receive the support of Hon. Vice Mayor Engr. Albert D. Chua, together with Hon. Kichel Jomarie G. Pungtilan, Hon. Rizal P. Castillo, Hon. John Gabrielle Dominique M. Daguio, and Hon. Gwyneth S. Quidang, who were also present during the activity.

The Barangay OSCA Coordinators of the City of Batac came together on August 17, 2026, at the Barangay Acosta Community Center for their bi-monthly meeting, providing an opportunity to strengthen coordination and further improve the delivery of programs and services for our senior citizens.

Facilitated by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) headed by Ms. Marneli P. Sabas through the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) headed by Ms. Mayvelyn Q. Sanguir, the meeting focused on important updates, concerns encountered at the barangay level, and the coordination of upcoming activities and initiatives for the cityโ€™s elderly sector. These regular gatherings remain an important avenue for sharing experiences, addressing concerns, and ensuring that programs and services reach our senior citizens in a timely and responsive manner.

The gathering was made even more meaningful as the July and August birthday celebrants among the Barangay OSCA Coordinators were also recognized and celebrated. Each celebrant received a flower crown and a birthday cake, adding a warm and personal touch to the meeting while strengthening the camaraderie among the coordinators.

The activity was attended by Sangguniang Panlungsod Member Hon. Rizal P. Castillo, along with representatives from Rang-ay Bank, who conducted a Financial Literacy session to help promote greater awareness and responsible financial management among the participants.

The City Government of Batac, under the leadership of City Mayor Hon. Mark Christian โ€œMarkeeโ€ R. Chua, together with the Sangguniang Panlungsod headed by Vice Mayor Hon. Engr. Albert D. The City Government of Batac through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), welcomed the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Experiential Exchange Learning Visit (EELV) Team for their project site visit in Barangay Mabaleng, City of Batac, last August 26, 2026, as part of the implementation and monitoring of Project LAWA at BINHI โ€“ Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished.

The activity was graced by the presence of Hon. Mayor Mark Christian โ€œMarkeeโ€ R. Chua, with the continued support of Hon. Vice Mayor Engr. Albert D. Chua and City officials. The City Social Welfare and Development Office, headed by Ms. Marneli P. Sabas, continues to uphold its commitment to supporting programs and initiatives that strengthen community resilience and promote responsive and sustainable social protection.

The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), in coordination with the City Government of Batac through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), conducted the Cash Gift Distribution for milestone-age senior citizens on August 14, 2026, at the Imelda Cultural Center.

A total of two hundred forty four (244) grantees aged 80, 85, 90, 95, and 100 years old received cash gift assistance under Republic Act No. 11982, or the Expanded Centenarians Act. Senior citizens aged 80, 85, 90, and 95 received โ‚ฑ10,000 each, while those who reached 100 years old received โ‚ฑ100,000 in recognition of this remarkable milestone.
