The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office I, in partnership with the 2nd District Congressional Office, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), held the Graduation Ceremony for beneficiaries who successfully completed the training leading to Security Services NC II on September 4, 2026, at Robinsons Place Ilocos, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.

Seven (7) graduates from the City of Batac successfully completed the training, which covered various areas related to security services and workplace readiness. The 10-day training included Basic Security Services in partnership with TESDA, Occupational Safety and Health and other learning sessions in partnership with DOLE and PDEA, Basic Marksmanship Training, and an actual firing activity held in San Nicolas. The graduates are also set to undergo assessment, tentatively scheduled on September 5–6.

The graduation ceremony was graced by the presence of the City Social Welfare and Development Officer, Ms. Marneli P. Sabas, who joined in recognizing the graduates for completing the training and taking an important step toward employment opportunities.

With the continued support of City Mayor Hon. Mark Christian “Markee” R. Chua, City Vice Mayor Hon. Engr. Albert D. Chua, and the City Government officials, the City Government of Batac remains committed to supporting programs that equip Batacqueños with skills and opportunities for sustainable employment.

𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐒 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦: 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐞ñ𝐨𝐬

The City Government of Batac, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), provided financial assistance to ninety-three (93) Batacqueños under the Crisis Assistance to Respond to Emergency Situations (CARES) Program on September 3, 2026, at the City Hall Lobby.

The assistance was extended to help beneficiaries with immediate needs, including medical expenses, food, funeral costs, educational requirements, and other essential concerns.

The distribution was carried out with the continued support of City Mayor Hon. Mark Christian “Markee” R. Chua, City Vice Mayor Hon. Engr. Albert D. Chua, and the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, reflecting the City Government’s continued commitment to providing timely assistance to Batacqueños facing difficult circumstances.

Through the CARES Program, the City Government of Batac, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office, continues to make social services more responsive and accessible, especially when residents need support the most.

𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟖𝟎 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝: 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐬

The City Government of Batac, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), and Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) recognized the Octogenarian, Nonagenarian, Pre-Centenarian, and Centenarian Awardees aged 80 years old and above for the month of July 2026 during the distribution held on August 25, 2026, at the City Hall Lobby.

A total of one hundred seven (107) senior citizens received their milestone awards, celebrating not only the years they have lived but also the experiences, memories, and contributions they have shared with their families and communities.

The activity was graced by the presence of Hon. Mayor Mark Christian “Markee” R. Chua, whose continued support helps strengthen programs that recognize and promote the welfare of senior citizens. The initiative also continues to receive the support of Hon. Vice Mayor Engr. Albert D. Chua, together with Hon. Kichel Jomarie G. Pungtilan, Hon. Rizal P. Castillo, Hon. John Gabrielle Dominique M. Daguio, and Hon. Gwyneth S. Quidang, who were also present during the activity.

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), headed by Ms. Marneli P. Sabas, and the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), headed by Ms. Mayvelyn Q. Sanguir, continue to support programs that recognize the needs, dignity, and well-being of senior citizens.

These awards are a simple but meaningful way of celebrating 80 years and beyond, honoring the lives, experiences, and contributions of senior citizens to their families and communities. The Barangay OSCA Coordinators of the City of Batac came together on August 17, 2026, at the Barangay Acosta Community Center for their bi-monthly meeting, providing an opportunity to strengthen coordination and further improve the delivery of programs and services for our senior citizens.

Facilitated by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) headed by Ms. Marneli P. Sabas through the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) headed by Ms. Mayvelyn Q. Sanguir, the meeting focused on important updates, concerns encountered at the barangay level, and the coordination of upcoming activities and initiatives for the city’s elderly sector. These regular gatherings remain an important avenue for sharing experiences, addressing concerns, and ensuring that programs and services reach our senior citizens in a timely and responsive manner.

The gathering was made even more meaningful as the July and August birthday celebrants among the Barangay OSCA Coordinators were also recognized and celebrated. Each celebrant received a flower crown and a birthday cake, adding a warm and personal touch to the meeting while strengthening the camaraderie among the coordinators.

The activity was attended by Sangguniang Panlungsod Member Hon. Rizal P. Castillo, along with representatives from Rang-ay Bank, who conducted a Financial Literacy session to help promote greater awareness and responsible financial management among the participants.

The City Government of Batac, under the leadership of City Mayor Hon. Mark Christian “Markee” R. Chua, together with the Sangguniang Panlungsod headed by Vice Mayor Hon. Engr. Albert D. Chua, remains steadfast in supporting programs and initiatives that uphold the welfare, dignity, and well-being of senior citizens.

The City Government of Batac through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), welcomed the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Experiential Exchange Learning Visit (EELV) Team for their project site visit in Barangay Mabaleng, City of Batac, last August 26, 2026, as part of the implementation and monitoring of Project LAWA at BINHI – Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished.

The activity was graced by the presence of Hon. Mayor Mark Christian “Markee” R. Chua, with the continued support of Hon. Vice Mayor Engr. Albert D. Chua and City officials. The City Social Welfare and Development Office, headed by Ms. Marneli P. Sabas, continues to uphold its commitment to supporting programs and initiatives that strengthen community resilience and promote responsive and sustainable social protection.

The EELV featured a courtesy call, stakeholder engagement, actual project site visit, and demonstration of project activities, providing an avenue for knowledge and experience sharing, collaboration, and the exchange of good practices in program implementation.

Project LAWA at BINHI highlights the importance of initiatives that go beyond addressing water access and food production, by also strengthening communities’ capacity to adapt to the challenges of climate change and build greater resilience and sustainability.

Through the continued partnership between the DSWD and the City Government of Batac, through the CSWDO, the commitment to programs that bring meaningful and concrete benefits to communities remains steadfast—working together toward a more prepared, resilient, and sustainable Batac.

The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), in coordination with the City Government of Batac through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), conducted the Cash Gift Distribution for milestone-age senior citizens on August 14, 2026, at the Imelda Cultural Center.

A total of two hundred forty four (244) grantees aged 80, 85, 90, 95, and 100 years old received cash gift assistance under Republic Act No. 11982, or the Expanded Centenarians Act. Senior citizens aged 80, 85, 90, and 95 received ₱10,000 each, while those who reached 100 years old received ₱100,000 in recognition of this remarkable milestone.

The activity was made possible with the continued support of City Mayor Hon. Mark Christian “Markee” R. Chua, together with City Vice Mayor Hon. Engr. Albert D. Chua and the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, reflecting the City’s unwavering commitment to supporting the welfare, dignity, and well-being of its senior citizens.

The City Government of Batac, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), extended assistance to four hundred eighty (480) indigent solo parent beneficiaries during the 2nd Quarter Indigent Solo Parent Payout held on August 13, 2026, at the Imelda Cultural Center.

The activity was carried out with the continued support of City Mayor Hon. Mark Christian “Markee” R. Chua, City Vice Mayor Hon. Engr. Albert D. Chua, and the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, demonstrating the City’s continued efforts to provide support and social protection to indigent solo parents and their families.

The City Government of Batac, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), conducted the 2nd Quarter Social Pension Payout for Persons with Disability (PWD) on August 5, 2026, at the Imelda Cultural Center, benefiting 1,000 indigent PWD beneficiaries.

The distribution was conducted with the continued support of City Mayor Hon. Mark Christian “Markee” R. Chua, together with City Vice Mayor Hon. Engr. Albert D. Chua and the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod. Their support reflects the City’s unwavering commitment to promoting the welfare and well-being of indigent persons with disabilities and ensuring that social protection assistance reaches those who need it most.
