Series of Barangay Assemblies and Free Theoretical Driving Course for the Service of Basudeños

In line with its continuing commitment to bring government services closer to the people, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Basud is conducting a series of community-oriented activities today, October 25, 2025, for the service of Basudeños.

Earlier this morning, a Barangay Assembly was successfully attended held in Barangay Mampili, serving as an avenue for transparency, accountability, and citizen participation. Simultaneously, a Free Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) was conducted at the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) through a partnership with the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

The activity was graced by LTO Chief William Vidal, who shared valuable insights on good and responsible driving, emphasizing the importance of discipline, awareness, and safety among motorists. The TDC provides Basudeños free access to the required training for obtaining a driver’s license while promoting road safety and responsible driving practices.

Meanwhile, this afternoon, PESO Manager Tobias M. Obrero, Jr. will attend the Barangay Assemblies at Barangay Laniton (1:00 PM) and Barangay Hinampacan (3:00 PM) as an invited guest, to share information about the various programs and services of the PESO, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Basud Technical Vocational School and Skills Training Center (BTVSSTC).

These activities are made possible through the leadership of Hon. Shunn Davoco, Local Chief Executive, and the strong support of the Sangguniang Bayan Members headed by Hon. Vice Mayor Ramir Barrameda, in collaboration with local offices and partner agencies.

Through these joint efforts, the LGU of Basud continues to strengthen its vision of inclusive and service-oriented governance — “Para sa Serbisyo ng mga Basudeños.”

Payout for 176 Beneficiaries of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of DSWD

Today marks another meaningful engagement with the Sustainable Livelihood Program Beneficiaries under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). This assistance serves as a seed of hope — a capital meant to help them start or sustain their livelihood projects toward self-sufficiency and a better quality of life.

As the Municipal Focal Person for SLP, I took the opportunity to remind our 176 beneficiaries of the true purpose of this financial assistance. It is not meant for personal wants or temporary pleasures, but rather, it should be used wisely and productively — to grow their small businesses, improve their sources of income, and uplift their families. I emphasized that every peso given should be accounted for through tangible proof that the money was truly used in line with its intended purpose.

The DSWD personnel in charge of the payout, especially the team head Ms. Julie, also provided a clear orientation on the do’s and don’ts of using the livelihood grant — ensuring that beneficiaries understand their accountability and the importance of transparency in implementing their chosen projects.

As the PESO Manager and SLP Focal, I further reminded everyone that the funds they received come from the taxes of the Filipino people. It is therefore our moral and civic duty to use these resources responsibly, wisely, and honestly. By doing so, beneficiaries not only honor the government’s trust but also contribute to the collective goal of empowering communities and breaking the cycle of poverty through sustainable livelihood.

Let this payout not just be a distribution of funds, but a renewal of commitment — to work hard, to persevere, and to make the most out of this opportunity for the betterment of their families and their community.

The 2025 Rahugan Job Fair: A Resounding Success!

A total of 74 job seekers registered, achieving 74% of the target of 100 job applicants. Among them, 47% were Hired-On-the-Spot (HOTS), while several others were considered as near-hires—marking the activity as a meaningful and productive success.

This accomplishment was made possible through the active participation of numerous employers and partner agencies. Two international recruitment agencies joined the event, along with several local employers offering a range of employment opportunities.

The success of the Job Fair was further strengthened by the support of partner national agencies such as the Social Security System (SSS) and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), as well as by the contribution of Mabini Colleges and St. Claire Institute of Arts and Technology, who showcased impressive skills demonstrations in Electronics and Electrical Installation, respectively.

A special highlight of the event was the skills demonstration by Mr. John Jester H. Salen, the proud international competitor representing the Philippines in the WorldSkills Competition (Electronics Trade Area).

We also extend our deepest gratitude to the following institutions and organizations whose unwavering support contributed greatly to the event’s success: SM City Daet, Sarong Banggi Organization International, Inc., St. Francis Caracciolo Culinary Academy, Inc., Philippine Academy of Technical Studies, Inc., Goodwill Technical Institute, Inc., Longevity Institute of Technical Skills, Jetti Group of Companies – Camarines Norte, Executive Excellence Technical Skills, Inc., and Hope Science and Technology College Corp.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the dedicated PESO staff, the support of other LGU departments, and the leadership of Hon. Mayor Shunn Frederick S. Davoco, Hon. Councilor Shaina Jules Lopez, and Hon. Councilor Pablo Ablaneda.
