Following a meticulous review and ranking of all student applications, the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Poblacion is proud to announce the official list of recipients for our flagship education program!

We are incredibly delighted to highlight that this marks the THRID YEAR of iSKolar ng Barangay and also its FIRST YEAR of implementation as an ORDINANCE!

For the last two years, our shirts and sando were basically round neck, v-neck, and sando cut.

After thorough evaluation and deliberation, the council has officially decided to postpone this year’s Basketball League for the upcoming Inter-Purok Sports League 2026.

We would like to express our profound disappointment regarding the level of response and participation shown by the expected participants of the said league.

Over the past several weeks, all necessary information regarding registration—including schedule, qualifications, and league guidelines—had already been released early and clearly through the official page, Baley min Basista, and community group chat. Sufficient time, along with repeated reminders, was also provided to ensure that every team was given a fair and proper opportunity to prepare and assemble their players.

Despite these efforts, it is deeply unfortunate that on the actual day of registration, ONLY ONE out of the seven expected teams was able to meet the minimum player requirement. One team recorded a complete absence of participation, while the other five managed to register only one, two, five, six, and nine players respectively.

As a final consideration, the committee even extended additional time to allow teams another opportunity to comply. However, upon the conclusion of the allotted extension, ONLY TWO out of the seven teams were ultimately able to reach the required number of players (which is 12).

At this point, it is evident that the issue can no longer be attributed to a lack of notice or insufficient time. What became apparent instead was the lack of interest, discipline, and willingness to support a program that many had long been requesting.

A well-organized and respectable league is not built on announcements and considerations alone. It is built through initiative, cooperation, and the responsibility of the players expected to take part in it. In this instance, the level of COMMITMENT necessary to preserve the integrity of the league was simply NOT DEMONSTRATED.

This became even more apparent when ALL OTHER SPORTS events successfully completed their registration without any issues and without requesting additional time—EXCEPT FOR BASKETBALL.

Because of this, the council believes that proceeding with the Basketball League under the current circumstances would no longer uphold the level of respect, discipline, and accountability aligned with the objectives of the Inter-Purok Sports League. After all, no team sports ever continued with only two competing teams.

It is disheartening to realize that while many communities strive to establish programs like this for their youth, the opportunity FREELY offered within our own barangay did not receive the same level of commitment, OFTEN TAKEN FOR GRANTED.

The SK Poblacion firmly advocates for “SERVICE THAT IS SEEN AND FELT,” yet how can this truly be demonstrated if those who are expected to be served CANNOT THEMSELVES BE SEEN AND FELT when their participation and cooperation are most needed?

To the players and teams who showed immediate response, discipline, and genuine commitment, we extend our sincerest gratitude.

GOOD DAY, POBLA YOUTHS!

For the past two years, separate group chats have been maintained for different sports, school supplies beneficiaries, cash assistance beneficiaries, project basa volunteers and readers, project abig beneficiaries, and Linggo ng Kabataan participants to ensure the efficient and organized dissemination of announcements.

This time, in addition to the existing group chats, an Official Community Chat will be established for the Youth of Poblacion, where everyone is welcome to join, whether they are athletes, beneficiaries, volunteers, participants, or youth in general.

This initiative is intended to serve as the official communication platform of the barangay for future administrations, fostering unity through a centralized group and ensuring a more seamless transition for the next set of leaders, whoever they may be.
