MAKASAYSAYANONG PAGDUNGGO SA USS CREVALLE SA BASAY, GIHANDOM MATAG SETYEMBRE 21

Gihandom karong adlawa ang usa sa pinakatalagsaon ug importanteng bahin sa kasaysayan sa Negros Oriental ug sa tibuok Pilipinas atol sa Ikaduha nga gubat pangkalibutanon.

Giingon nga gihatagan ug pagtagad karong adlawa, Setyembre 21, ang opisyal nga anniversary sa pag-unveil sa National Historical Marker sa lungsod sa Basay, Negros Oriental nga nagtimaan sa "Pagdunggo sa USS Crevalle".
Kahinumduman nga niadtong Mayo 11, 1944, hilom nga nidunggo sa baybayon sa Basay ang submarino sa US Navy nga USS Crevalle aron magpahigayon ug usa ka secret rescue mission.

Pinaagi sa maong operasyon, kapin 40 ka mga sibilyan, misyonaryo, ug mga sundalong Amerikano ug Pilipino ang malampusong na-evacuate gikan sa Negros ngadto sa Australia. Gawas sa mga tawo, nakarga usab sa submarino ang mga importanteng militar nga dokumento lakip na ang confidential nga intelligence sa mga Hapones nga nakatabang og dako sa kalampusan sa Allied Forces sa Pasipiko.

Tungod sa dakong kontribusyon niini sa kabayani sa mga Negrense sa gubat batok sa mga invaders, opisyal nga gipahimutang sa National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) ang maong historical marker sa Basay niadtong Setyembre 21, 2022, nga nagpabilin hangtod karon nga usa sa mga garbo sa probinsya.

Today, the officials of Brgy. Olandao, headed by Brgy. Captain Tumimbang, invited the Tourism Office of Basay for a private investor meeting focused on the future of tourism in Olandao.

With plans to develop agritourism, a zoo, and other potential tourist destinations, the barangay is taking exciting steps toward creating new tourism opportunities for the community.

We are excited to see what this partnership and upcoming investment can bring to Olandao. As the Tourism Office, we are always ready to extend our support and work together with our barangays toward meaningful and sustainable tourism development.
