Poblacion 1 sinks San Juan, 77-70

Through their combined effort, Poblacion 1 sunk San Juan, 77-70, in their second game in the Invitational Inter-Barangay Basketball League 2026 held at the Municipal Gymnasium, Sunday, July 20.

Hautea led the first score of 2 points in the first quarter. Scores erupted with the help of Legaspi before the whistle and agile assists from Geronimo.
The clutch 3 point shot was made from Balano in the remaining minute of the quarter.

It rained free throws from Batu and Barrido in the early minutes of the quarter, although San Juan stood strong, gains from quick dribbles of Hautea showed promise. The opposing team managed to catch up with a 3 point margin at the remaining six minutes. Steals from Legaspi and Hautea made the scores to advance as well the 3 point shot from Bastareche - ending the quarter in 37-32 score, in favor of Poblacion 1.

In the 3rd and 4th quarters, continuous bombardment of scores shackled the teams. Clinching the victory, Poblacion 1 ended the match with a 77-70 score, in their favor - claiming their 2nd win in the League.

Poblacion 2 outshines BVNHS, 75 - 70

With their unfailing teamwork, Poblacion 2 outshone BVNHS Sleepers with a 5 point margin in their first match in the Invitational Inter-Barangay Basketball League 2026 at the Municipal Gymnasium, July 17.

The first quarter opened with excitement as the blue power of Poblacion 2 commenced the energy at the court. With 17 seconds left in the quarter, Alisasis missed both free throws. Valeriano grabbed the rebound, keeping the team ahead by three points, ending the quarter with a score of 21-18.

In the second quarter, the first 2 points shot by Dapitan ignited the spirit of the team. Five minutes had passed in the clock and Bayson scored two points after three missed attempts earlier in the quarter.

In the last three minutes, BVNHS took the lead, yet Asigurado scored 2 points on a fast break from the other end of the court - but the team was unable to overcome BVNHS ending the quarter with BVNHS leading, 43–40.

After the halftime has ended, Asigurado shot 2 points but got sprained calling for a substitution. Balico made both free throws, bringing the team within 2 point margin of the opponent's lead. Munta came in late and scored a free throw in the final minute of the game. Asigurado scored with 40 seconds left in the third quarter, giving the team a 1-point lead over the opponent. Another player made a 2-point shot, putting the team further ahead of the opponent, 55-52.

The game was intense, with both teams battling for the lead throughout the match. With six minutes remaining, Malunes scored 2 points to give the team the lead over the opponent. The team stole the ball but failed to convert the 2-point attempt after a foul. Munta blocked an opponent's attempted shot gathering a cheer from the spectators. Another 2 points shot from Munta with a foul.

With 30 seconds remaining, Munta grabbed the rebound and was fouled. He made 1 of 2 free throws, extending the team's lead to 5 points. 17 seconds left and the game was intense. Munta secured a 1 free throw shot and by all means, the team led to victory with a score of 75-70.

Coaches Jade Alisasis, Jarius and Roverdee Balediata led the team to triumph. With their unfailing support and guidance, Poblacion 2 advances to the next level of the League.
