The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Ilocos Norte Provincial Office reminds accredited service and repair shops to renew your accreditation without penalty on or before JANUARY 31, 2025.

This is to safeguard the interest of the public and deliver ethical, fair and competent service of enterprises and technical personnel engaged in the service and repair of motor vehicles, heavy equipment, engines and engineering works; electronics, electrical, air-conditioning and refrigeration; office equipment; medical and dental equipment; and other consumer industrial electro-mechanical, chemical and gaseous equipment, machinery appliances or devices pursuant to the P.D. 1572 and Article 125 of the Consumer Act of the Philippines.

Mr. Bryan's grandparents established the famous Monette's Bakery in Banna, Ilocos Norte. This was then passed on to his mother, Ms. Lorena, who also passed the bakery's ownership to her son, Mr. Bryan. As this mother and son embarked on the bakery business, they kept an eye on understanding the different processes which were instrumental in determining their market niche.

In the passing of time, the Otap product of Monette’s Bakery became widespread, making it one of the pride products of Banna. Monette's Bakery is rich with tradition and innovation and is more than just about baking bread and pastries. It has become a popular destination in the municipality, with customers traveling from far and wide to get a taste of their best-selling "Banna Otap."

As Monette's Bakery continued to grow, Mr. Bryan joined a cohort of 54 entrepreneurs in Region 1 for the DTI's 2024 KMME-MME Online Program Batch 1. His active participation during the program's mentoring sessions led him to the Aktibong Mentee Award. According to Mr. Bryan, the program equipped him with valuable knowledge and skills in efficient business operations, particularly in the areas of digitalization, supply chain and financial management, and market and product development. He is now more confident and motivated to soar higher and bring the Banna Otap to a wider market.

Ms. Lorilyn's entrepreneurial journey began in 2016 with a single food cart, “Keirol's Empanada and Refreshment Hub,” strategically located at the famed Cape Bojeador Lighthouse in Burgos, Ilocos Norte. Her delicious Ilocos empanadas, a recipe honed over three decades from her mother's successful venture in Paoay, quickly became a best-seller among locals and tourists.

Then came the Covid 19 pandemic, a dark cloud that shuttered businesses, with the tourism industry among the hardest hit. Undeterred to let go of her dream stall, she dwelt not on lost revenues. Ms. Lorilyn embraced innovation and pivoted to online marketing, promoting her existing products while introducing new ones. This gave her the opportunity to venture into Ilocos Longganisa production - a key ingredient in her special empanada, and master her skill on meat processing which she acquired through the Skills Training on Meat Processing conducted by the DTI in 2021.

Ms. Lorilyn considers her inclusion to the DTI’s KMME-MME Online program in 2022 a great honor and privilege. The program equipped her with invaluable lessons and strategies enabling her to arrive at sound business decisions. Additionally, the program gave her fresh approaches to negotiate better with suppliers, partners, and customers.

Leveraging expertise, she became a trainer for starting businesses engaged in empanada making in South Cotabato in 2022. In 2023, she was able to secure a business partnership in Butuan City. She remains open to business partnerships for her empanada and longanisa business.
