๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ โ | President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. vowed to continue supporting the Cordillera Regionโs push for autonomy and transforming regional peace into economic opportunities.
President Marcos made the remarks on Tuesday, in Malacaรฑang while leading the 2026 National Peace Consciousness Month (NPCM) Opening Ceremony, commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the Government of the Philippines (GPH)-Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) 1996 Final Peace Agreement (FPA), and 40th Anniversary of the GPH-Cordillera Bodong Administration-Cordillera Peopleโs Liberation Army (CBA-CPLA) 1986 Mount Data Peace Accord โSIPAT.โ
President Marcos also witnessed the ceremonial signing at the Palace of the agreement on the fulfillment of the 1986 Data Peace Accord between the GPH- CBA-CPLA.
โEarlier, we witnessed the signing of the Agreement on the Fulfillment of our 1986 Mt. Data Peace Accord with the CBA-CPLA. This marks the first peace agreement in our countryโs history to be [meaningfully] fulfilled,โ President Marcos said.
โWe will continue to support the Cordillerasโ aspirations for autonomy and ensure that peace continues to translate into development and opportunity,โ the President added.
The country is commemorating this year the 40th anniversary of the 1986 โSipat,โ or Mount Data Peace Accord, with the Cordillera Bodong Administration-Cordillera Peopleโs Liberation Army.
According to the President, the accord showed that even longstanding differences can be bridged through dialogue and a shared commitment to uplift communities.
Among the key accomplishments of the GPH-CBA-CPLA peace process as of August 27, 2026, are the turnover and destruction of 339 fi****ms; CPLA transformation from an armed group into the Cordillera Forum for Peace and Development Inc.; and program integration of 481 former CBA-CPLA members and next of kin in partnership with the armed forces.
Other accomplishments include the enrolment of 854 CBA-CPLA members in the PAMANA-YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan Program) in coordination with PhilHealth, and the signing of the Consensus on the Accomplishments of the 2011 agreement. | PND
